• Welcome to Christian Forums
  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.
  7. There has been an addition to the announcement regarding unacceptable nick names. The phrase "Let's go Brandon" actually stands for a profanity and will be seen as a violation of the profanity rule in the future.

Outdated by Jonathan "JP" Pokluda. I highly recommend it for Christian singles.

Everyone wants to be loved--to find someone who will stick with them through all of life's ups and downs, someone who is in it for the long haul. But in a world where dating is increasingly based on split-second decisions and geared toward casual relationships rather than marriage, it's easy to feel discouraged, used, or unworthy of true love and lasting affection.

Jonathan "JP" Pokluda has counseled thousands of young singles through the pain and heartbreak of dating the world's way. Now he wants to dispel the myths, misconceptions, and fairy tales you've believed about dating and replace them with the truth from the One who invented marriage, created you to crave relationship, and is the very embodiment of true love. With plenty of true stories about relationships healed and love found, this practical book explains God's purposes for singleness, dating, and marriage and covers why you should date, who you should date, and how you should date.

Off topic. Surely, there is a contest going on this minute somewhere, that would be ideal for 'bèlla' to enter some of her avatars!?!

Currently reading a book that deals with the misconceptions of one of our founders, Thomas Jefferson called 'Jefferson Lies' by David Barton.

Now because of his influential participation into America's origin, Thomas has been the subject of anti-Christian smears, it has successfully started a culture of lies in and of itself. But Mr. Barton, himself an attorney whom arguably has one of the largest private collections of founding father documents in existence, has well refuted this unfair assessment of TJ.

    Among the Lies,

    TJ Founded a Secular University

    TJ Wrote/Edited His Own Bible

    TJ Was a Racist

    TJ Advocated a Secular Public

    TJ Detested the Clergy

    TJ Was an Atheist

, , well sourced, chronological, publicity print as well as private exchanges. Meet the man, up close!!

    Fascinating Womanhood

I recommend getting a physical copy of the original and reading the update first. You can find snippets from the latter on this thread.

Originally published in 1963, Fascinating Womanhood sold over 5 million copies globally and was been translated into 7 languages. As controversial as it was popular, the book also spawned a grassroots movement of classes where women could learn more about feminine influence in relationships and the home.

Interesting. More in a manual form, directed at the not quite mid-age crowd, or in some other format?

The updated version is different. The tone and biblical references are gone. Amazon pulled the Kindle book from the site. I already owned it. Prices increased on the physical copies. I purchased mine from the UK and grabbed her other stuff. I sensed it would disappear.

A bit drastic sister, but it appears this may have been her choice. Seems she was of sharp wit,

She was inspired by a set of pamphlets that had been published in the 1920s, called "Fascinating Womanhood", for single girls. - Wikipedia

So, I guess the question is, to secure a copy with biblical references you would have to stay how close to the 1963 release? Thinking about securing an issue for a certain someone. Since she passed within the last 12-yrs, maybe the 1972 release could have escaped the extractions. As the originals are not cheap. :)

If you look at the comments on Amazon the consensus from many who read the original was consistent. The update removed a lot of material. I can't follow it with the original. Her mother wrote several books. One for single women, married women, and mothers. It appears she combined material from the first two. I'm not certain.

Last year the hard copy was $20. Now its $400. I purchased a physical copy from Amazon UK and used copies of the others. I noticed a striking uptick in price for all of them. To call it a treatise for women is putting it mildly. She knew her stuff. The table of contents blew me away. :)
