6string said:Isn't that an issue for the radio stations, not the artists? Perhaps the question shouldn't be "Which artists should go out to pasture?" but "Which radio stations should change their lineup?"
How much does public opinion/feedback impact a Christian radio station? Is the programming entirely up to promotors?
JC 101 FM said:At my radio station listener complains rule...it's the listeners who complain the most who have the most power...especailly when you are funded by those very same listeners. We don't have the power my friend.
6string said:This makes me sad.
I like a lot of CCM, many artists that have been listed, and I just don't see what you see - at least, certainly not as the majority. I generally listen to discs rather than the radio - perhaps I have just been fortunate in my selections.
But: I guess that's why there's chocolate and vanilla. And why some say the glass is half full, and some say it's half empty - while I wonder why they keep using such a large glass.

6string said:It sounds like the station is playing what your local listeners want to hear, then. If programming is based on listener feedback, then the right music is being played for your audience.
6string said:Perhaps you could start an "alternative hour" and play different stuff in hopes of gaining favor for what you like.
JC 101 FM said:Again, another listener telling me how to program a radio station...

6string said:Forgive me for trying to offer a solution. It was meant to be constructive. Finding a way to introduce people to new music is your goal, but when a suggestion is made, it's met with sarcasm? Jiminy crickets, bub, keep whining about your problems and dissing those who try to help - see how fast your solutions arrive.
I was also going to suggest that you make it clear to your listeners, all of your listeners, how important feedback is to your programming, and open lines of communication for them - but what could I possibly know? How could it benefit you to hear from anybody except those that complain? What was I thinking, trying to help a fellow Christian?
Yes the tounge is the hardest of all to tame. I am always wishing I could take back things I've said. Oh, well.6string said:Thanks for stepping in. I felt something strong needed to be said - and I did it in another thread as well - because some folks seem to go out of their way to be harsh and condescending when there really is no need for it. I see posts that drip with venom and they need to be pointed out - we need to be accountable when we say harmful things.

6string said:When I hear people complain, I like to try to help them find solutions. That's what I feel a good Christian does.
6string said:Y'know, 101, your responses really burn my backside. I posted questions because I was genuinely interested, and posted responses because I wanted to help - you could have ignored them, or said "Thanks, that doesn't work in my industry" - but to be so negative and downright rude is just totally uncalled for. I'll be praying for you, man - something aint right in your world, and I pray God roots it out.

JC 101 FM said:Old and tired acts who are not producing good music and yet living on the name sake they built, are making harder for newer better acts to make it due to the lack of room on the radio for them. That's why bands should call it a day...
