China forces Italy to buy same coronavirus supplies it had donated to Beijing a few weeks ago

China's efforts to rebrand itself as a global leader focused on humanitarian relief amid the coronavirus outbreak has hit a major snag and perhaps revealed Beijing's true intentions behind their public relations blitz.

After telling the world that it would donate masks, face guards and testing equipment to Italy, China quietly backtracked and sold the Mediterranean country desperately-needed medical equipment, according to a report.

What's worse is that the personal protective equipment (PPE) China forced Italy to buy were actually the same PPE Italy donated to China before coronavirus rushed its own shores and killed nearly 16,000 people.

Just want to say that some supplies that entered Italy from China were below standard and were not accepted. I doubt these would be the same supplies sent over there since Italy seems to make quality goods.

A couple of designers are making masks now...can't remember which ones at this moment...

I think this is a great idea and indicative of HOW man should help himself in these situations.

Spain, Italy, Austria, Slovakia, Czech Republic, too...

Finland got a planeload of PPE from China yesterday that need to be tested and chances are they are just more crap.

Clearly, China and Russia are not here to help.

Government just finished daily brief and yeah, unsuprisingly -- when was "made in China" a sign of quality goods? -- the Chinese PPE was tested and found lacking. "Not what we ordered," "disappointing," "below standard." We'll get domestic Finnish-made gear in two weeks, but poor, poor ordinary Chinese who have to make do with the second-rate crap their country produces.

And how likely is that? Dictatorships do not exist to serve the people and the common good and wellbeing.

If, however they had some good stuff and some defective stuff , why would they send the good stuff away and keep the defective stuff? They would send inferior stuff to the outside world helping to give them a competitive advantage as those economies tanked completely while they were able to keep theirs afloat due to the infection spreading more rapidly elsewhere. Sounds like something a dictatorship would find to be a very tempting idea.
