Wow! I didn't realize all that stuff and if true, glad I'm not attending there. It does seem to explain my perception of him as a bit an "on and off the mark" preacher but bless his passion. Perhaps it's just a case of being long in the tooth and it's time to step down? So why haven't Elders and the congregation confronted him if things are that bad? Good Old church Politics again and whatnot?

Perhaps the reason why he stayed in the pulpit is because of all the thousands of people who wrote him to stay and preach?

Are you somehow thinking the main charge against TB is him abandoning his wife and kids to marry the nanny after an affair that wasongoing through the 'revival'. If only that were the major issue against him. Personal failings can be delt with. Angel worship and condemnable doctrine cannot.

There are alot of great preachers of the word that dismiss the pentecostal movement. Dr Stanley may not agree with pentecostalism but he does not condemn them like so many others do. In fact he was recently a guest on the PTL show on TBN not too long ago. And his 1 hour show is aired on TBN.

I think many got turned off by an overemphasis on speaking in tongues as the ONLY evidence of the tbaptism. There are lots of tongues speaking pentecostals that have little other evidence of Holy Spirit activity in their lives and many non tongues speakers who have tons.

Stanley didn't divorce his wife. She divorced him. He did not remarry, there's absolutely no indication of any sexual sin involved...this man is innocent, except for one thing. He said he would step down if he was divorced. He shouldn't have said that, IMO, because it bound him where the word of God did not bind him. As Agrippa said to Felix, "this man might have been set free had he not appealed to Caesar!"

There is nowhere in the bible where it states that for your mate to divorce you without biblical grounds disqualifies you for ministry.
