• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

What is the Churches teaching on the 'final destination' for a gay Catholic?
From the Catechism:
2359 Homosexual persons are called to chastity. By the virtues of self-mastery that teach them inner freedom, at times by the support of disinterested friendship, by prayer and sacramental grace, they can and should gradually and resolutely approach Christian perfection.
2358 The number of men and women who have deep-seated homosexual tendencies is not negligible. This inclination, which is objectively disordered, constitutes for most of them a trial. They must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided. These persons are called to fulfill God's will in their lives and, if they are Christians, to unite to the sacrifice of the Lord's Cross the difficulties they may encounter from their condition.

To make it short, if they don't give in to the World and act on the orientation (and if they do, they need to be sorry and become reconciled with God), those with a homosexual orientation may enter Heaven.

All of us struggle daily with our individual crosses, I don't think that is any different for gay people. Like everyone else, they are called to serve God and to express their sexuality in appropriate ways. Since their orientation is not conducive to heterosexual marriage, they face unique challenges. But if they devote their life to Christ and keep returning to the fold via Reconciliation if they stumble into sin, then I don't think there is any reason why they should not get into heaven.

Actually, If a gay person is willing to commit to chastity out of love for their Savior, that is a beautiful way to serve God...

...just my two cents!

Are there any celibate gay people here? I've posted on here and the Pentecostal forum - the two i feel closest to (Messed up i know!) for any one who can lend an ear. What is the Churches teaching on the 'final destination' for a gay Catholic?

I don't think we have celibate gays on OBOB. I am about as close as you might get though, I'm bisexual, but only pursue the opposite sex, despite the huge temptation to do otherwise :) ... but that isn't exactly the same thing.

If you have any questions, need help, advice, be sure to let us all know

people are not defined by their sexuality as our modern society tells us- there is not 2 types of humans "the straight" and "the gay"!

There are people
people with homosexual temptations
people with adulterous temptations within marriage
people who are tempted to steal.

we are not defined by our temptations and we can, through the mercy of God, become ridden of them.
