Catholic Leaders Urge Support for Boy Scouts Under New Policy on Gays

It is so interesting reading the views of those who have now been (gratefully) socially marginalized.

The BSA is getting great support for its new policy. The three largest religious sponsors are accepting it (LDS, Methodist and Catholic) as well as the smaller religious sponsors (Presbyterians, Jews, Disciples of Christ, Unitiarians, UCC and Evangelical Lutherans). New sponsors are coming forward (including my Catholic parish) faster than anyone seriously takes any steps to leave.

This cake is baked. Time to move on.

There never was. There was a ban on gay leaders...there's the difference.

That is the current policy. Gay scouts allowed, adult gays forbidden. The previous policy banned both the scouts and the leaders.

So you agree - leaders shouldnt be gay?
For the point where some adult men strongly believe in NAMBLA.

Should parents who teach what the Church teaches (that the act of homosexuality is disordered) purposely allow their sons' to hear that homosexuality is a perfectly valid lifestyle at BSA camp?

That's not what the policy is. It simply allows gay boys to be scouts.

You want to pretend that that is not what will happen, be my guest, but it seems that a number of churches have already "put 2 plus 2 together and gotten 4" and decided to break with the BSA to form their own Christian group for boys.
