Yes, JD Vance was correct, very biblical and Catholic in his common sense assertion that a person should love family first, then his church/community, then his country and THEN others in the wider world. This is the principle foundation when considering immigration and care for others.

What does St. Paul say in 1 Timothy 5:8:

“But if anyone does not provide for his relatives, and especially for members of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”
JD Vance told the media and nay-sayers that the old Christian adage Ordo Amoris (The Sacred Order of Love) applied as the foundational consideration when discussing a countries borders and immigration.

For a good article on this, and what Thomas Aquinas has to say in confirmation, read HERE. It starts out,

The vice president was being interviewed by Fox, and he made a straightforward observation: There is an order or hierarchy of loves—what is classically called an ordo amoris. We should love our family first, then our neighbors, then love our community, then our country, and only then consider the interests of the rest of the world. Vance called this a Christian view.
Some reacted with horror. To be Christian is to be universal and impartial, they said! Vance is endorsing an anti-Christian nativism! But Vance is correct. The Christian tradition has a consistent teaching that we are to love those near with a greater fervor than those far away….

Of course he is correct. As long as we have some concern for everyone we must have the most concern for those we can actually reach, those closest to us. It should be obvious.

It makes sense to prioritize family, community, and country first. Loving those closest to us is a natural and biblical approach, and it's important to take care of our own before extending care to others. This doesn't mean neglecting others, but rather starting with those we are most connected to.

Whew!

As long as I don't even have to feel anything positive toward illegal immigrants or think of them as people!

Weak little Jesus wouldn't be able to protect me from those bad immigrants anyways.
That’s not the point, here.

Yes, he's was wrong and basically admitted it in another interview, where he was quite humble. He called himself a "baby Catholic " and said that there were “things about the faith that I don’t know.”

He added: “I try to be humble as best I can when I talk about the faith and publicly, because of course, I’m not always going to get it right.”

He also lied about liberals, when he said, “A lot of the far left has completely inverted that. They seem to hate the citizens of their own country and care more about people outside their own borders. That is no way to run a society.”

This is a completely false accusation created by right wingers.

Yet, I think it is the absolute truth. Illegal aliens get everything, but progressives don't care about people here. Liberal progressives have become the patty of hate and hungry for power. Vice President was totally correct

It's not truth according to Vance's Church. You can believe whatever you want and God will be the judge.

At high levels it seems like the decision was made to bring in as many possible into our country and the human trafficking, crime, and drugs were accepted collateral damage.

There are laws which cover who can come in and what to do, legally, and what to do with those that come in illegally. Much of the problem is that we don't have enough immigration courts to handle those that come in.

Immigrants that come in illegally but turn themselves in, are then protected by law. Since there is a back log in the Immigration courts, immigrants are released into society and given a court date. Some come back for their court date and many don't. (Far from a perfect system but that is the law.)

We need more immigration courts to get immigrants so criminal elements can be deported. Most immigrants are good people but if 5% are criminal elements, that adds up.

We need immigration reform. Republicans killed the last bill, which they wrote, because Trump didn't want to fix immigration, at that time. That bill, though not perfect, would have helped tremendously and Trump could have worked to improve it during his administration.

That bill would have added immigration judges and border guards.

The problem was they were bringing in as many as they could while deceiving the American people. In order to prevent this from ever happening again I think we need to prosecute Mayorkas and some of the other leaders.

Do you have proof of that?

I guess love and care are two different things but aren’t we supposed to love and care for God first?
