  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

No sex or nudity. One violent episode, which is a flashback of how the crime went down. Shows the family members being shot and Mr. Clutter getting his throat cut, but only momentarily.

I thought the movie was excellent. Not much action, but the story is very absorbing. Best thing is Phillip Seymour Hoffman's terrific portrayal of Truman Capote. I heard he just got nominated for a Best Actor Oscar, and he deserves it.

The book, In Cold Blood, and the movie based on it about the murder of that Kansas family and the two killers interviewed by the book's author, Truman Capote...was very well done. Also filmed in glorious B/W it was made in the 70's and probably set the bar for good crime dramas. Because of that I do want to see this story about Capote's writing of that book.

Philip Seymour Hoffman was outstanding in his small part in The Talented Mr. Ripley. His star has been on the rise since with some excellent and challenging parts. From the clips I have seen...he really does the Capote part to perfection and is pretty much a shoe in for the oscar this year.
