The New Brunswick rules apply to those 12 and older seeking to attend “indoor organized gatherings,” including weddings, funerals, conferences, workshops and parties, excepting parties at a private dwelling.

Oh dear....not good at all.

Would Jesus turn people away?
On the contrary, Jesus called sinners to Him, he touched and healed people who were shunned, and called. "unclean".
It was the spiritually sick that He called out: those who strained at a gnat, but swallowed a camel.

Jesus didn't particularly care that his disciples didn't wash their hands. Oh, the horror!

So whether he realizes it or not, this Archbishop has made a mistake.
And fortunately, it can be gently and privately corrected.
Would someone not vaccinated then be given a dispensation from having to go to mass? Or under pain of mortal sin for skipping mass without a dispensation be forced to be vaccinated?

Yes, it has been customary for a bishop to grant such a dispensation whenever the doors were closed to the faithful.
I think the point that needs to be made, is that closing the doors is only done as a very last resort, and should only be undertaken if there is extreme danger of exposing the Body and Blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to that which is unspeakable, unholy, and so terrible that there are no words to describe it.
Frankly, I don't think that is the case in Canada.

There are two things that the good Archbishop has missed in his zeal.
The first is that there are worse things in this world than not having been vaccinated.
The second is that to mandate vaccination as a qualification to attend mass is to ignore the lesson that Jesus taught us, when He invited Lazarus to come down from his tree, and dine with Him that day.

There is so very much for all to learn from that simple exchange!
On the surface it would seem to be just a friendly invitation, but it goes far, far deeper than just the words that were spoken that day.

Unbelievable that a man of God, a leader and preacher could do this.

Where are the true men of God?
I'm having my doubts at the moment. We are in a moment here it is less and less obvious. I need to take a break.

Jesus also told us to love our neighbor as ourselves one could make the argument that that includes taking steps to protect your neighbor from serious and maybe deadly illness. Particularly if they offer other means ( like our Baptist church does of attending.

So what do you do when Uncle Henry dies, and you can't have a funeral in the church because Aunt Margy, his wife, who is 92 years old, didn't get vaccinated because she's got a wonky heart? Hand her a shovel and say, "Good luck! Just wear your mask while you bury him---we don't want you infecting us!" ???
