I converted to Catholicism because it is the only Church that takes the scriptures as the word of God.
^_^ well scripture tells us we can know we are saved but I have been told by some that no only God can know..
You believe that you were programmed for heaven while others were programmed for hell. This is not what I believe. LOL.. This is what you interpret me to believe. I belive God has chosen His people before the foundation of the world. Sin is what programs any man to Hell. I believe that all men are sinners and programed for hell but out of Gods love and Mercy He chooses to save some from this. If God did not choose and save man from this all men would go to hell. God is not obligated to save all men, :)
In Fact God is not obligated to save any man.. Tee hee
For some reason, you are ashamed of your beliefs.
I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power unto salvation. :) Now can you be revealed truth out of the scripture by yourself? Can you believe something different than what you church believes..If not why not?

The Church gave you the bible. You believe the Church, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, infallibly chose the books of the New Testament.

Why?

I just looked up the quote from the book Heresies, Heresy and Orthodoxy in the History of the Church by Harold O.J. Brown. COGWriter leaves out where the author says that it seems like marcion BUT Luther was different in the distinctions.

Context is important.

I'll provide some scripture that I believe, but that you will ignore or distort because of your man made dogma:

John 6
53Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

I believe this also just not as interpreted by some men.

John 20
22And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit. 23If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven."
I believe this also. Just not the way it has been interpreted by some men.

Matthew 18
17If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, treat him as you would a pagan or a tax collector.
I believe this also. In fact have witnessed this. :)

Matt 16
18And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. 19I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven;
I also believe this scripture just not the way some men have interpeted it.. :)

An Orthodox gave me a link to their interpretation of it, but then, whoever said MEN can infallibly interpret the Scriptures

You are ignoring direct quotes from Luther. (I know why!)

God gaves us the scriptures. All the men did was to take all that was written and compile into what we now call the bible. It is the Holy Spirit in us that teaches us the truth of what is written. :)

Why do you believe your interpretation is infallible?
I do not believe in interpretation of the scriptures. I believe in understanding the scriptures.. I am still learning from scripture.. Everyday I learn something quite awesome in them. God speaks to His Children through His scriptures. We do not need a middle man in between us and our Fathers word. For the Holy Spirit whom we are sealed with is our teacher not man..

What about this quote :)

http://www.ancient-hebrew.org/1_update.html

"If I were younger I would want to learn this language [i.e. Hebrew], for without it one can never properly understand the Holy Scripture…. For that reason they have said correctly: 'The Jews drink out of the original spring, The Greeks drink out of the stream flowing out of the stream, The Latins, however, out of the puddle.'"
--Martin Luther (1483-1546)

"Our sacred literature does not use obscure language, but describes most things in words clearly indicating their meaning. Therefore it is necessary at all times to delve into the literal meaning of words to acheive complete understanding of what is actually meant."
--Rabbi Samson Raphael Hirsch (1808-1888)

^_^ Because I don't read in the scriptures that men are programmed.. Just predestined. :)
Interesting. That leads me to ask was I programmed to be left handed or was I predestined to be that way

This thread is not the place or the time to do this. I gave you the opportunity to hear me out on this subject in another thread, but you did not bother.

You know exactly where that concluded and what will happen if you speak that position openly here.

As to your judgment of what is relevant topic matter for the thread, I consider all parties at the table of judgment to be valid topic matter particularly when they are missing in other equations, dig?

My understanding, correct me if I am wrong.

All men are programmed for sin and therefore Hell according to Calvin.

God picks some lucky underserving souls to shed his grace upon.

I agree with your view of Calvinism being somewhat equated or related to salvation by Divine Random Lucky Lotto.

That's an excellent thing. Keep learning more fully. (Helpful Hint: start at a point before the 16th century a.d.) :p
