Peace in Christ.
Again…..everyone who is believing “into” Him should not perish (not mortally die from this earth) but should have life age-lasting (continued mortal living for the duration of this present evil age that we are in). The truth of the gospel is about bringing life to the mortal body so that we might continue to live here in this earth without perishing away from it.
John 3:
14 ‘And as Moses did lift up the serpent in the wilderness, so it behoveth the Son of Man to be lifted up,
15 that every one who is believing in (INTO) him may not perish, but may have life age-during,
16 for God did so love the world, that His Son — the only begotten — He gave, that every one who is believing in (INTO) him may not perish, but may have life age-during.
We are to live an age-lasting life and believe INTO Him…as in a point to be reached. We are to live and believe into His coming again....never mortally perishing from this earth reaching unto the last day of this age.
We remain alive here in this earth (via having an age-lasting life) until His coming. We which are “ALIVE AND REMAIN” unto the coming of the Lord shall not precede those who had fallen “asleep” in Jesus. “Sleep” = mortal death. Because of their mortal death, they have an age-lasting intermission from this earth until the last day of this age. They experience an age-lasting death (sleep) until the "last trump" moment where they will then be raised up and given another body.
They believed in Jesus but did not hear the truth of the gospel because they listened to false prophets whose minds were blinded to the understanding of it.
Jesus both died and rose again so that He may be Lord to both the “dead” (those believers of Him who mortally perished...who "sleep") and the “living” (those believers who hear the truth of the gospel and inherit an age-lasting life and never mortally perish unto His coming). The living will never "sleep" but will continue to live in this earth throughout this age until the last trump moment where their mortal bodies put on immortality.
The “living” believe INTO Him. They never mortally perish until His coming when those who had mortally died (“sleep”) come with Him as God will bring them with Him (which happens AT the last day of this age).
"Concerning them which are asleep" = concerning them which had mortally died from this earth temporarily.
1Th 4:13-15 KJV
(13) But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
(14) For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
(15) For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
Jesus is the resurrection and the life. Even though a believer in Him mortally perished, he shall live. He shall be raised up AT the last day of this age. There are 2 resurrections of believers being highlighted here in John 11:25-26.
John 11:
24 Martha saith to him, ‘I have known that he will rise again, in the rising again (resurrection) in the last day;’
25 Jesus said to her, ‘I am the rising again (resurrection), and the life; he who is believing in me, even if he may die, shall live;
But, everyone who is LIVING and believing into Him shall not die….into the age. They will never mortally perish into the age and will reach the last day of this age never having died.
26 and every one who is living and believing in me shall not die — to the age;
This is the truth of the gospel that we are to believe in.
Yet, it seems Martha did not really confess that belief in the truth of the gospel. She believed that He is the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming to the world.
27 believest thou this?’ she saith to him, ‘Yes, sir, I have believed that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, who is coming to the world.’
“Martha” represents the believers who believe in Christ who is the Son of God but who “go their way.”
Joh 11:28-29 KJV
(28) And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
But Mary represents those who believe and “arise quickly” and come unto Him . They believe in the truth of the gospel and come alive in their mortal bodies (in the first resurrection) and continue to live unto His coming.
(29) As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
We shall not all “sleep” in mortal death (never dying)….as we shall believe in the truth of the gospel and will continue to mortally live UNTIL the last day where we shall be changed from mortal to immortal.
Those who had mortally perished (fallen asleep) shall be raised imperishable. Those who haven't gone to "sleep" in mortal death will then put on immortality.
1Co 15:51-53 KJV
(51) Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
(52) In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
(53) For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
But what body do they come?
This foolish question is being asked by people who now understand the truth of the gospel. The “living” will never lose their body…it just gets changed into immortal at the “last trump”. The “dead” though had mortally perished. They suffered loss…the loss of their mortal body.
Those believers in Christ believed but did not inherit an age-lasting life in their mortal bodies as they did not hear the gospel of truth. They mortally fell “asleep” until the last day of this age when God will then give them a body that pleases Him. They had suffered loss of the mortal body for the duration of this age (age-lasting death….aka “eternal death”) but will then be raised at the last day of this age and given another body.
1Co 15:35-38 KJV
(35) But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?
(36) Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
(37) And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or of some other grain:
(38) But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
