A Rose by any other name would smell as sweet... civil union, gay marriage mere semantics.

Truth be told, most people in America probably are not open-minded or mature enough for full out gay marriage. Although it's certainly what I'd wish for if I had the power to change things, I'd accept civil unions that grant all the rights afforded straight unions to gay unions. Perhaps, with time, America will grow used to gay marriage, much like we've grown used to interracial marriage. Rome wasn't built in a day, after all.

Extreme, radical changes never, ever work, no matter how noble and right those changes may be. Time, time....
