The Christian life is fundamentally and crucially about self-sacrifice (Ro. 12:1) To the degree one shrinks from death to Self and to the sacrifice necessary to love as Jesus loved, to that same degree one is useless to God and a detriment to the Body of Believers. Love, godly love, costs. There is no way around this fact. It cost Jesus his life to love us and it will cost us dearly, too. It is because this is so that it is vital to be in the flow of God's power, the power of His Spirit, in walking with Him.

You are right: there is no particular number of church meetings that the Bible sets as necessary to proper Christian living. However, the Bible does command:

Hebrews 10:24-25
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works,
25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

Forsaking entirely the local community of believers runs contrary to this command.

Thanks so much for your wisdom. I have been worshiping the church and focusing on pleasing people more than anything else. Glad life’s not about worshipping the created things but for Jesus! Please pray for forgiveness for this fixation on people and that I can trust God in a faithful community

Oh man this is what I need, thanks for your understanding and for building me up in this thread! You make me feel loved. That’s solid. I guess My mom was right about researching before pursuing churches

This is wonderful! Thanks! This makes me feel valued and leaves me trusting in God, rather than my own limits!

Learn to say "No". Many times relationships, whether between males and female, co-workers, church members... which start too fast can burn up too fast. The change is hard to process when there is so much hitting you all so fast.

We need to slow down and say no, at times. Church members may be trying to be helpful or may believe that they have found someone to lighten their load.

Remember that you had a life going into which ever new Church you join and that life needs some attention. Ignoring that part of you may cause you to resent the new people you meet. Go slowly and you may find great joy which you fail to see by going too fast.

Thank you for your input. That is a HUGE reason why I left that church. It was like to have your own boundaries, concentrating on the work involved at school, and life with God was considered an offense. And thanks for reminding me that my life and opinions are valuable and not out of reach of any church! Please pray that the resentment I feel now towards the people who have ignored my needs I can forgive.

One thing that I learned many years ago was to "Let Go". I'm not sure what kind of father figure that you've had in your life but regardless of how good our parents are, God surpasses all. God has an incredible love for his children. He knows that we are not perfect and truly wants to listen to all of our problems.

I give everything over to God, Regardless of how big or small. I treat Him as a Father. When I fail, I go to Him. When I succeed, I go to Him. I want to tell Him all about it and get His help whenever I need it.

I joined the Catholic Church because I was accepted as I was. No one tried to drag me into anything. When I felt it was time, I was told to pray and allow the Holy Spirit to guide me to a vocation in the Church, so, since I like being outside I chose mowing the grass and helping with landscaping.

At time I may be asked to help in another area but there is no pressure put on me. It works for me.

God Bless

This is so encouraging. Thanks so much! I think I had a pretty cool father but like all humankind we had our moments. That’s where I found God. That’s a good word!

There is not one person in any church who is perfect!! We are all sinners

Who said there were perfect people in churches? We aren't perfect people but those who love Christ are those who love Matthew Frazier and other Christians.

1 John 4
21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

John 14
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

21He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

I'm not one who says, "Never go to church," nor do I judge those who are unable to attend every non-Sunday meeting of a particular church. There are people on earth who love the Lord, but are bedridden or without transportation.
