that is how an ecumenical council works. that is what St Constantine called for.

did Constantine also called for Chalcedony?

that was not an ecumenical council, if he called one, it would have been local.

but somehow his teachings are binding despite not been approved by any council. don't they?

no, that was another Emperor, and yes, all the bishops were invited.

yes, because the Church has said he is. councils only codify existing teaching, they don't invent teaching.

I want to see if Orthodoxy binds Crete Council or not.then we will speak. If it is succesfull to make it binding that will speak of the orthodox church able to get organized without an emperor, if it doesn't get it to bind all churches to it, then it will show disorder and incapability of coordination without the army of the emperor.

This is not the place for guests to debate with us. If you are not Orthodox, you are a guest.
Indeed.

Please don't make me post a hat. I don't want to bother with one.

Maybe you'd like to make another thread in St. Justin's.

I have to say I'm very very disappointed in the recent posts on this thread.

I started it as a piece of information . I NEVER intended it to become a debate thread , as indeed I'm sure that TAW members realise.

I get very upset when people who are not Orthodox use it for debate.

Personally speaking - I think it's time this thread was brought to a close because of the abuse of the hospitality of TAW by non-members

I'm sorry it has come to that, Anhelyna.

I'll close it for you. PM me if you want it reopened.
