Just like every freedom loving American, this guy wants to run to Bermuda in a bubble. The nanny state won't let him. What do you think, should people be "allowed" to do things dangerous to themselves?

I think the Coast Guard was a jerk, especially for sinking his toy and all his valuables with it. He should be able to sue for reimbursement. Plus, the Guard's reasoning was stupid: basically, we had to intervene because otherwise we might have had to intervene. What?

"He is exactly like Forrest Gump. You know, people didn't understand Forrest Gump. People don't understand Reza. But look at Forrest Gump. Everybody loved that movie." ^_^

Very interesting. In any case one thing's for sure: that bubble is awesome!

It is strange that you can legally euthanize yourself in certain states but you can't run into the Bermuda Triangle in a giant bubble. What gives? :D

Reza's friend: "He is exactly like Forrest Gump."
Reza: "You're not helping."

My favorite thing was him out on the open ocean asking a boat for directions. "Excuse me sir, do you happen to know where Bermuda is?" ^_^ I would have said "Sorry buddy, I'm not from around here", lol.

Agreed. I've been in something similar on a lake once. It was a blast.

Personally I think they should have escorted him, but I can see the reasoning behind intervening in a controlled manner rather than having to try to intervene in an uncontrolled way.

Respect the ocean, it can kill you in a surprisingly wide variety of ways.

Yeah well, you could have said the same about Charles Lindbergh.

Yep. I came across this video 'cause I was sorta binging on documentaries about people who've gotten lost at sea. And it's really hard to come by a peaceful, pleasant death out there. Tends to range from horrific to super-horrific. :D

I read the US coast guard are very strict on seaworthyness of craft putting to sea.

If the weather had turned bad they would have to rescue him while at the same time proff seafolk may have gotten into difficulties elsewhere.

They are not supposed to be nannies for adults who should know better.
