How was everyone's 4th of July? anyone do anything really fun?

I went to the Colorado River (Laughlin) for the holiday and let me tell you this: I broke my arm waterskiing (ouch) and I had a blast getting flipped off of the wave runner with the strong current in a couple spots...
(my sandals, chapstick, 1 ear ring, toe ring and sunglasses are still somewhere in the River)

I fear I am going to be in a cast when I go to Holland :(

I highly recommend the firework show at the Avi hotel/casino to any of you locals next year, it was the most incredible I have ever seen...

It took me 6 and a half hours to get there and I left at 7:00am on the fouth of July. I have discovered the true hell on earth. 2 words: Cajon Pass...

Then what normally would take me 4 hours to get home took me roughly 7. I barely missed a 10 car accident in Barstow, was listening to the traffic report coming back into Los Angeles county and was sorry about the high level of accidents. 8 cars, 6 cars, fatalities :(

I was cut off at least a dozen times and twice by people pulling boats. I just sat there thinking "Did people forget how to drive this weekend?"

I made a brief stop at a gas station in Barstow and was not at all surprised that one car was taking up the spots for 3 cars, and they were driving a Honda, not a big car. I refrained from letting them know that "contrary to popular belief, there are other people on the planet who might need to gas up"

I ordered the roasted chicken sandwich on cheese herb bread at the subway they had in the gas station, sat there chatting with Sharon the subway employee and watched her make the sandwich the whole time and when I was back on the road I realized that she made me the Salami/pepperoni sandwich. Not only did she get my sandwich wrong, but *I* watched her make it the entire time and it never dawned on me that she was not making the chicken. This is what I get for getting 3 hours of sleep per night. :p

Other than the mass quantities of mosquitos and bats, the broken arm and the killer migraine I had from consuming too much red wine I had a great time on the River. I beat 2 of my brothers in poker and I ate fried mozzarella and indian fry bread all weekend...
priceless.

Maybe we could put you into recovery with my son. A friend of his came home from the army and they ended up going out drinking. Then they got into a fight and someone tried to hit him with a pool cue stick. He said I had practiced that move for three months to take that stick away from him. But he came at me so fast all I could do was put my arm up and block it. The bone was broke all the way though. Then three weeks later it had slipped so they had to open him up and put a plate in there to hold the bones together.

... Last night was Sacramento's Hottest Night this year. 100 degrees at 8:30 which was Sunset Time. 95 degrees at 10:00 and the air got smoky. It reminded me at being in the Philippines. Talk about Driving? You ought to see how they Drive in the Philippines. I guess one of the rules for driving there is who ever can honk the most and loudest gets the right of way. Most rural areas in the Philippines is choas driving and those who can honk the most and the loudest, gets the right of way. With their colorful Jeepnies, Motor Bikes and carrages. It is a matter of weave driving in the streets. A Honk here and there several times and this vehicle can cut in and inbetween the other vehicles. The City and town areas I think is working on more of the civil driving in time. Getting more Lights installed with one way lanes there. And then as I was up till 12:00 for this morning, it was 85 Degrees. Usually it isn't suppose to be above 71 degrees for this hour in the middle of the night.
