The gay community boycotting Florida orange juice in the 80's certainly worked to get Anita Bryant, and her bigoted opinions, out of the public spotlight. I watched a documentary about the Rev. Troy Perry, whose activism was instrumental in the boycott.

That was rather a new use of the tactic, however. Today, any comment made by a news anchor or something as personal as a business owner contributing to a political candidate will bring the wokefanatics out in force.

While I strongly disagree with allowing unlimited money in politics, at present the founders, owners, CEO's, of companies can contribute to whom they wish.

Likewise, customers are free to boycott any company for any reason.

Sounds like a small contribution to the tip jar in return for the massive tax break.

A week from now nobody will be paying any attention. It is currently trading at $214 and rising. Most analysts consider it a Strong Buy.

Hmmm... I don't 100% boycott too many places, but I definitely avoid certain companies. Mine would include:

    Walmart
    Coca-Cola
    Best Buy
    Nike
    Google
    Amazon
    Apple
    Mars, Inc.
    Nestle
    Wayfair
    Netflix

Yeah, I doubt it's because he thinks Trump is a new prince of peace, it's all about money. For some folks, money is morality.

I might agree if you take the first 'great' out:)
He is so far from being a great man, a great person, a great president, a great humanitarian, a great father, a great influencer, etc, etc, etc. I could spend a lot of time on his negatives but he is trying to improve the country. If only he cared about people and would humble himself and would stop lying and..............

Seems a little silly to me. Regardless of whether they supported Trump or Hillary, I'll continue shopping there. I like their products. Besides, it's not like Home Depot employees all vote for the same candidate. There are Republicans, Democrats, Independents, etc.

People are too easily "enraged" these days.

Isn't it strange that some don't realize that?

They just don't think things through do they?

That could be the answer, but militants like these do not really care about any of that, do they?

Why? Because the action is right, doncha know?? That's all the boycotters need to say.

Henry Ford had Nazi sympathies and was the first American to receive the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, an award created by Adolf Hitler himself. Does this mean that we should all buy Chryslers instead?

It's one thing to divert your business away from organizations that are actively undermining the church today. But because some guy who left the company decades ago believed something? How far back do we then go?

Unfortunately, the boycotts today aren't what I call grassroots today. For example, they support one opponent over another. People are getting really ugly about this today. I would shop at places that supported either party as long as they were not ugly about it.

I look at Chick-fil-A years ago. Groups called for a boycott years ago, and it backfired. The reasons were not justified in many people's minds. The owner (I think it was) had personal opinions, and from the other side meant they 'hated' other groups. There should be enough room for both if both are respectful of each other. You don't have to agree 100%, and that doesn't equal hate. Yet for this boycott it did equal hate if you didn't agree. There was no wiggle room and this company still lives with this to this day. The company is most successful in places that show tolerance, and yet is banned from others that claim tolerance and show none. If they said "hate' or encouraged it? That would be different in my mind, but they didn't. We all have right to our opinions.

Yes, boycotts can be VERY effective I agree. Yet, not in as many cases as in the past. I think the overkill is changing that dynamic and its very sad.

Yeah I see no reason to boycott Home Depot. The founder who no longer has a role in the company is donating to the Trump campaign, not the company or even a current member of the leadership.

Our 2 main stores here are home depot and lowes.
    Always liked home depot more.

After the Ceder fire and losing a house they gave me thousands of dollars worth of free tools and massive discounts on building supplies. 2,500 homes burnt down -- that's a lot of discounts and money given.

Thank you and bless you Home Depot.
