It depends on how we understand those scriptures. Peter said a day is like a thousand years to God. That doesn't sound like peter was looking for the Lords return any time soon.I gave a multitude of Bible verses that indicate it was supposed to happen during Biblical times.
But when asked to explain the impossible.....you always fall back onto future science and hope for scientific correction to show there is no need for a God.

The moment an atheist says something like that, he betrays the fact that he has a positive disbelief in God, despite his endless protestations to the contrary. EVERYBODY holds a positive disbelief in the Easter Bunny, and apparently the said atheist places God in the same category as the Easter Bunny.
