• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Body trouble, head trouble. Stuff.

Haven't been here in a while and just remembered my account. I'll probably drop by more often.

Anyway, I get tired easily. Two blocks of walking gets me panting, and because of this I don't bother to excersise too much and I'm a little overweight. 5'1" and 145lb. My feet hurt when I jump rope; I think it's something about arch support. And I have trouble sleeping sometimes because I think a lot about silly things. Nothing serious or depressing most of the time, but sometimes I get really upset.

I have bipolar disorder and currently take Abilify.

My father suggests praying, but I don't listen to him anymore because he abandoned me on the side of the highway on my birthday.

You might just be out of shape or you could have some sort of medical condition. I suggest going to a doctor to find out. As for thinking about silly things, they can't be that silly if they get you really upset. Since they are causing trouble you should try to process them and find out why you're thinking them, how they fit into your life and so on. If they continue being trouble, you might want to talk to someone, a therapist perhaps.

Your icon says you're agnostic so I see why you don't appreciate your father's advice. As a christian though, I think it's excellent advice. I suppose my point is that try not to automatically dismiss everything your father says. I don't know why he abandoned you like that, but he might still be right now and then.

Hi, my entire post was lost, but I'll start over anyway:)
I am very sorry to hear that you are having a hard time with things right now, and believe me, I've been there:hug: .

As far as the physical troubles I would strongly, strongly recommend exercising. I know it seems that you can't do it now, but the more that you do it the easier it becomes and the better you will feel. Exercise will not only help ou physically, but in many other areas as well. It will help you reduce stress and relax, and it will also give you a really good boost of self confidence. Believe me I know what I am talking about. A year ago I was about 50lbs heavier, depressed, and stressed. I started exercising regularly and the change in my life between now and then is amazing. Exericise was not the only thing that allowed me to change, but it helped me in so many ways.

As far as the spiritual troubles, I just pray that God will give you the peace and serenity that you need right now. If you ask and beileve God will ease your mind and put it at rest. God wants you so badly to call on Him. He is the greatest source of peace and comfort that we will ever experience. I know it must be hard to pray given your experiences, but trust that God will be there if you call on Him. He sees everything that you are going through right now, and wants nothing more than for you to turn to Him so that He may show you the amazing love that He has for you. You are His child, and He created you specifically for a purpose.

Please PM me if you have ANY questions or you just wanna talk. I will always be a listening ear if you need one, and I will remember to keep you in my prayers. :prayer:

'“The Lord answered me and set me free.” The psalmist declares that he prayed and cried out, and that he was certainly heard. If the devil puts it into your head that you lack the holiness, piety, and worthiness of David and for this reason cannot be sure that God will hear you, make the sign of the cross, and say to yourself: “Let those be pious and worthy who will! I know for a certainty that I am a creature of the same God who made David. And David, regardless of his holiness, has no better or greater God than I have.” There is only one God, of saint and sinner, worthy and unworthy, great and small. Regardless of the inequalities among us, He is the one and equal God of us all, who wants to be honored, called on, and prayed to by all." Martin Luther.

Jesus who has conquored sin, death and the devil is definately trust and praiseworthy. You can pray to him because by faith in his saving work we are saved and he has already taken away our sins.

That said, prayer helps keep things in perspective etc. Excersize, diet helps and I'm sure your doctor would help too.

I would like to emphasize excersize/diet. I'm naturally a fit person externally, and it's easy for me to forget about health, but if i don't watch myself in these areas, i find that i mentally deteriorate and get tired easily etc. So you might be hitting two birds with one stone with this.
