All girls schools need women priests as teachers.

Women’s prisons also need women priests as teachers.
I have seen this same message in three different places on Christian Forums: here, in the "Egalitarian Christians" forum and in the "Bridge Builders - Moderate Christians" forum. My reply now is the same as it was in the "Bridge Builders" Forum:

"Why? Teachers don't have to be "priests", whether in schools or in prisons. I notice from your membership details that you are a Roman Catholic, but even in Roman Catholic schools, although the local priest might visit the school regularly, the teachers are not priests. I am not sure why this thread about your view that girls' schools need women priests has the title, "Bless the Poor and Bless the Rich.""

The Catholic Church is having a priest shortage in the United States.

What about the nuns?
The average age of American nuns is 80.

Catholic schools need women priests.
Yes, you said the same thing when you posted this thread elsewhere. This particular forum is entitled, "Whosoever will May Come - Liberal". I am struggling to see what this thread has to do with liberal theology.

I would guess that most liberals support making women priests.

Most mainline denominations in the US already ordain women as priests or pastors. So, you're preaching to the choir here. We Protestants don't get to tell the Catholic Church what to do, though.

OK, but what's wrong with a nun?

That may be too old to be a teacher.
The Catholic Church will not ordain women.

Per the teachings, a priest (male) represents Christ, and Christ's Bride is the Church. A woman cannot represent Christ in persona Christi that would be symbolic lesbianism!

Traditional religious orders are slowly increasing, while the more active ones are in steep decline.

More younger priests tend to be orthodox and conservative.

There has been a shortage since WWII. It's a fact.

The number of women religious has gone down DRASTICALLY after Vatican II.

The Holy Spirit helps people learn new languages,
to spread the words of Jesus Christ.

A woman priest can represent the Holy Spirit,
and teach new languages.

Ok? I think you’re missing the point.

Maybe join the Episcopal Church.

The Catholic Church is the largest church in the world.

It needs positive examples of women working with men.
....yes, such as religious communities of women who work as nurses, teachers, social workers, professors etc

unfortunately, they are aging and don't have many vocations

To get younger women in the Catholic Church,
open the door for women priests.

Again, that won't happen.

There are plenty of younger women in the Church, they generally choose to be married rather than join a religious community.

I think that's what you mean.

In some countries becoming a nun
is seen as a retirement community.

Allowing women priests would likely get younger women involved,
because they work with families and the public more.
