HBO comedian Bill Maher is planning to apologize Friday night for accusing Pope Benedict XVI of being a Nazi, an HBO representative confirmed for FOXNews.com.

Maher reportedly will not apologize for calling Catholicism a “child-abusing religious cult," but HBO could not confirm this for FOXNews.com.

In a letter to HBO President Sue Naegle, a group of politicians complained that Maher "crossed the line of decency."

Maher, host of "Real Time With Bill Maher," has come under attack from Catholics since going on a rant April 11 about Pope Benedict XVI's visit.

Maher's an idiot. Who cares what he says or apologizes for?

I have listened to him making his anti-Catholic remarks for years so it would be ridicules to believe he means his apology, period. He always uses the disclaimer of the fact he was raised Catholic before launching into his insults.

As for the other groups, I think it would be a breath of fresh air if someone shed some light on the anti-Christian sentiment, vandalism, and violence that occurs daily by Muslims and Jews in the Middle East.

One thing I like about Catholics - they're not rioting in the streets, killing people, burning things, and demanding the execution of Bill Maher over his remarks.

Muslims need to pay attention to this, especially those in Denmark.
