Flipping heck, it’s always the blame game with you lot.

Not everything is so black and white.

Why do you think the 'approval' rate for the government is so low?
As a leader if you know what's right and don't do it you can rightly be blamed for ineffective leadership.

I watched an interview with a mother with three boys. She is on the Mexico side of the border waiting. Her oldest son, 16, crossed the river leaving the others in Mexico. He entered the US as an unaccompanied minor. He is now living with his grandmother or aunt here in the US and attending high school.

My point is that not all these children traveled to the border by themselves or with coyotes, their parent/s brought them.

The much bigger immigration problem is what to do with the millions of undocumented immigrants who already live here--in many cases, for years. Mass round-ups and peremptory deportations are logistically unfeasible. Not to mention unworthy of a modern, civilized nation.

Joe Biden and Congress need to revisit S.744 from 2013. Or come up with something similar. It addresses tighter border security and establishes a sensible, humane process for dealing with the population of undocumented persons already residing here.

Or just win the drug war so those people can remain in their home country.

A beefed up e-verify system strictly enforced would see them leave of their own accord due to inability to find work.

A beefed up e-verify system strictly enforced would see them leave of their own accord due to inability to find work.

That sounds good. But the down and dirty reality is that many employers don't want that enforced. Unauthorized immigrants are a less expensive labor pool. And though they won't admit it, states still benefit from off-the-books workers. Even if many of them send part of their wages to families in their home countries, they still spend money here. They buy food, gasoline, and necessities of living. They pay rent for living quarters. Meaning they're paying state and local sales taxes, and property taxes as part of their rent. The 2019 Dallas Morning News article claims that illegal immigrants contribute $32 billion annually to the state of TX. The article also mentions how they wind up paying FICA through fake SSNs, or through ITIN numbers. (On which the Trump administration tried to crack down.) Most of these people want to work. Our country needs workers and consumers. We should be able to accommodate that.

Think unauthorized immigrants don’t pay taxes? Here are four ways they do

Biden never pledged not to construct or improve physical barriers where necessary. Indeed, that has always been part of Democratic policy.

But he did put an end to construction:

JAN. 20, 2021 UPDATED 7:01 PM PT
President Biden is immediately ending the national emergency that President Trump declared on the border in February 2018 to divert billions of dollars from the Defense Department to wall construction. He also is halting construction to review contracts and how wall money might be redirected.

Biden announces end to Trump’s border wall project

Or at least it won't be long before the Harris/biden administration takes over.

The good news is that Biden couldn't have picked a worse person to fill his seat.

How can he continue to build a wall that wasn't being built before the election?

Maybe he could use those wall parts that are laying around down by the border. ^_^

He’s just waiting for Mexico to pay for it.

If Mexico had helped it likely would have been finished and this trouble could have been avoided. Very short sighted of them.

Perhaps because the narrative that "the wall wasn't being built before the election" is a lie.

The wall was not being built before the election. They'd repaired a few sections of existing wall, but built almost nothing. There was no serious effort.
