If, for example, he said "I was wrong to say that most Mexican immigrants are rapist and drug dealers.
I don't think he is going to apologize for something he didnt say.

“I have black guys counting my money. … I hate it," Trump told John R. O'Donnell, the former president of Trump Plaza Hotel & Casino, according O'Donnell's account in his 1991 book "Trumped!" "The only guys I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes all day."

Trump, according to O'Donnell, went on to say, "'Laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is, I believe that."

In an interview with Playboy in 1999, Trump remarked that "[t]he stuff O'Donnell wrote about me is probably true."

Did Trump Say 'Laziness Is a Trait in Blacks; No Black President Again Any Time Soon'?

It's true enough that if you're given the information that a person is pro-Trump, there's a pretty good probability that he's white. But that doesn't mean all blacks dislike Trump. If you're wealthy, powerful and black, you might actually like Trump, because Trump looks out for the wealthy and powerful.
tell that to Hillary

As Hillary Clinton said, a lot of Trump voters were not racists. Do you disagree?
The quote you provided said 50% were deplorable (KKK, racists, etc) and 50% were not doing well and needed Hillary's empathy.

My response is that many Republicans have been characterized as the pro business party and would be offended to say they fell into either of those categories, another big block of voters identified as Christian and said they were voting for him because of his pro life stance and promise to appoint pro life judges. They also would be very insulted to be put into either of those categories. As a result I conclude that Clinton is in denial about why she lost and that was due to her arrogance and dismissive attitude.

I would also point out that historically those who are not doing well financially do not vote, that has been a problem for the Democrats. The idea that they all came out in mass for Trump should have been an alarm to the Democrats, that is supposed to be their base.

Finally, I see this as tangential to this thread. Hillary is not running, but it seems ironic that what costs the Democrats the election in 2016 seems to now be creeping into Biden's rhetoric as well. Regardless of how you think this election is going to turn out it is extremely unlikely that Biden wins if he is insulting to Blacks and minorities. My takeaway from the last election is not why people voted for Trump, I could understand that, it was why so many people stayed home and didn't vote for Clinton. She was by far the most qualified and being the first woman should have been a motivation to at least some people. Yet the reason she lost is that people refused to vote for her, not because of how many voted for Trump which should not have been enough to win. I did not vote for either one of them, but I do understand why people would refuse to vote for Clinton.

Biden sorry for 'cavalier' remark on black voters

Democratic White House candidate Joe Biden is in damage limitation mode after saying African Americans "ain't black" if they even consider voting for President Donald Trump over him.
To get this back on topic. The way I view this you would have to run an exceptionally incompetent campaign to lose to Trump. Generally the basic rule is "its the economy stupid" and the economy is Herbert Hoover levels. Second, the one thing we expect out of a president is not polite, dignified rhetoric though it would be nice to return to that. What we expect is that they keep us safe and the bottom line the US has not been kept safe.

So the real issue is not how Biden can win, but rather how he can lose because as long as he doesn't follow that game plan winning should be assured. Step 1 don't insult your base. Step 2 don't be seen as corrupt. Step 3 don't be seen as incompetent.

So he beats Trump on all three at the moment.

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized Jewish Americans who vote for Democrats, saying "it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty."
...
"Five years ago, the concept of even talking about this -- even three years ago -- of cutting off aid to Israel because of two people that hate Israel and hate Jewish people -- I can't believe we're even having this conversation," Trump added. "Where has the Democratic Party gone? Where have they gone where they're defending these two people over the State of Israel?"
He added, "I think any Jewish people that vote for a Democrat -- it shows either a total lack of knowledge or great disloyalty."
The remark led critics to argue the President was dabbling in the anti-Semitic trope of "dual loyalty," which questions the loyalty of Jewish citizens.
"It's unclear who @POTUS is claiming Jews would be 'disloyal' to, but charges of disloyalty have long been used to attack Jews. As we've said before, it's possible to engage in the democratic process without these claims. It's long overdue to stop using Jews as a political football," Anti-Defamation League CEO Jonathan Greenblatt tweeted later Tuesday.

It seems that every time a Trump surrogate expresses outrage over anything, you can be sure that Donald Trump has done the very same thing. Sort of a law of nature.

Aides and allies making concerted effort to get Trump to stop doing daily briefings
There has been a concerted effort among aides and allies to get President Donald Trump to stop conducting the daily coronavirus briefings, multiple sources tell CNN.

After weeks of briefings that sometimes last more than two hours, there is some agreement in the West Wing that some of the news conferences have gone on too long, resulting in a situation where Trump and administration officials simply run out of coronavirus-related questions. The result, aides have noticed, is that the briefings stray into politics instead of the matter at hand.
Axios was first to report potential changes to the coronavirus task force news briefings.
Friday's coronavirus task force news briefing was the shortest since the pandemic began, clocking in at 22 minutes. Trump had also taken questions from the press while signing a coronavirus relief spending bill earlier in the day. The previous shortest briefing was 32 minutes.
The briefing came a day after Trump had given a lengthy briefing to the media, at one point suggesting it might be possible to treat coronavirus by injecting people with sunlight or disinfectants. The President was heavily criticized for the dangerous suggestion that disinfectants be put into the human body, with the maker of Lysol -- a leading cleaning disinfectant -- asking the public to not put its product into their bodies.

Well let's consider this. In an interview the interviewer asked Biden to tell him why he would want to vote for him, a common softball question in a friendly environment and rather than answer the question by pointing to items in his platform that you might agree with Biden says that "if you have to ask that question you ain't black". As it turns out the man doing the interview was black, so this is insulting on numerous levels -- which we have discussed already.

This appears to be exactly the same thing Trump does when he says that a Jewish person would be ignorant or disloyal if they don't support him. However, the context is quite different. Two women from a congressional committee had intended to visit Palestinians and were denied entry by Israel. In response congress wanted to cut off financial aid to Israel. So I do agree that Trump is assuming that because a person is Jewish that either they must support US giving aid to Israel or else they are disloyal to Israel.

The way I see this I will remember the words of Larry Bird, "if it doesn't bother me why does it bother anyone else". It is really up to each voter. If you are Jewish and are offended by what Trump said I doubt you would have voted for him anyway. If you don't support US financial aid to Israel you probably don't care that he has recognized Jerusalem as the capital either. Likewise, if someone else is offended by what Biden said they will have to decide for themselves if this is something that will influence how you vote.

Biden's tendency to speak his mind has often gotten him in trouble. Not as often as Trump's tendency to make up false stories has gotten Trump in trouble, but still it's there.

Truman was like that, too. Unlike Trump, Biden knows how to admit his failing and apologize when he should. You may have noticed that when Trump messes up, he never apologizes and seeks a scapegoat.
It is no surprise that Biden get in trouble when he speaks his mind, consider his mind.

Yep. Trump did exactly the same thing, except that he insulted Jews, instead of blacks.

Seems like they generally were:

I'm thinking that if Trump had manned up, admitted that it was wrong, and had apologized, he wouldn't have lost their support.

We need to give Joe full credit for his academician accomplishments
That time Joe Biden lied about his academic credentials

That one's a loser for Trumpers, too...

For years, President Donald Trump has said it’s clear that he is “a very smart guy” since he attended Wharton — a school he describes as “super genius stuff.”

Trump, who graduated from Wharton in 1968, has also never challenged the fact that he "graduated first in his class," which various publishers and news agencies such as The New York Times have reported.

Penn records and Trump’s classmates dispute this claim.

In 1968, The Daily Pennsylvanian published a list of the 56 students who were on the Wharton Dean’s List that year — Trump’s name is not among them.
Was Trump really a top student at Wharton? His classmates say not so much

It remains true that if Trump or his surrogates accuse someone of something bad, it's a sure thing that Trump has done it. Haven't found an exception, yet. In this case Biden exaggerated, he acknowledged the fact. Trump has yet to apologize for lying about his academic record.

It's another one of those peculiar character flaws in this president.

Pearl clutchers? Does that refer to the 50% who are KKK and racist, or the 50% who are not doing well economically that Hillary empathizes with?

It applies to those who hyperventilate when Biden describes something as a "big (bleep) deal", but don't blink an eye when Trump brags about grabbing women by (bleep) and getting away with it.
