Starting from today, through the end of January there would need to be just over 4000 deaths per day. We are almost at 3000 per day with minimal stay at home orders throughout the country so if we stay on this trajectory with no precautions? Could be possible, certainly not impossible. The 1918-1919 flu pandemic killed 675,000 people divide that by 365, that's about 1850 deaths per day.

There is a ONE day spike of 2,100. To reach Biden’s mis information level we would have to have 4,237 deaths per day, every day.

I suspect he is touting such absurdly high numbers so he can claim victory when it doesn’t happen anywhere near as close.

The Trump vaccine will be out in weeks and the numbers may just drop exponentially.

Biden would no doubt claim that also.

no, actually quite accurate. Unless you can point to Mr Biden referring to a scientist. Which he did not.
but Biden isn't claiming 250 more deaths.
he isn't claiming any deaths

"President-elect Joe Biden said another 250,000 Americans could die of coronavirus between now and January, a higher forecast than previously given by health officials as the country faces rises in new infections and hospitalizations."

But I'm happy to see you are continuing to demand sound scientific backing from our leaders, the many many times you called out President Trump for making unsupported scientific claims shows how serious.......I'm sorry i can't write any more of this I'm laughing so hard

The IHME projections are typically at this point going to March last I looked. I see just now their mid range is 470k deaths by March 1.

But, a projection uses assumptions about behavior. We could do better.

LOL you want to fact check a president and be taken seriously after you defended Trump’s lies for four years? Not gonna happen. Trump said COVID would just go away.

does that make one President lying bad and the other president lying good because the first one was lying.

Doesn’t make sense. Are the people so entrenched in fact checking now going to completely stop?

250K more deaths by the end of January is the IHME projection with "easing," i.e. if people don't maintain precautions. He should have been more specific, but that's the most likely source.

I'm not a great fan of the IHME projections, but it's a common source.

No, it means you have no place fact-checking. It means people are going to laugh when you do.

It would be good if he had cited his source, but the difference between 200K and 250K is well within the margin of error of such projections.

have you EVER done the same for an issue concerning the current President?

No, it means you have no place fact-checking. It means people are going to laugh when you do.

Good thing you don’t make the rules.

Buckle up, there is more coming. Lots and lots more.

He needs to read this John Hopkins study done recently:

A closer look at U.S. deaths due to COVID-19
The analysis can be complex, and the final real difference would best be indicated by "excess deaths" -- the amount of total deaths that occurred above the normal trend of deaths that would be expected without Covid.

Example from October:
Now, in the most updated count to date, researchers at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have found that nearly 300,000 more people in the United States died from late January to early October this year compared the average number of people who died in recent years. Just two-thirds of those deaths were counted as Covid-19 fatalities, highlighting how the official U.S. death count — now standing at about 220,000 — is not fully inclusive.
Amid Covid-19 pandemic, U.S. has seen 300,000 ‘excess deaths' (October 2020)
