What does Anabaptist mean? For that matter is there a definition for both Baptist and Anabaptist that I've missed somewhere?

I deal some studing on Anabaptist a few years ago but forgot most of the details. Anabaptist was the early churches who refused to join the united government churches ( kind of like the idea of separation of church and state) and were attack for their stand againest baby baptism( they believe only those born again should be baptist). Some believe ( not all) that Baptist came from these early Anabaptist churches (since Baptist stood for some of the same thing that Anabaptist stood for)but the history of this church gets fuzzy thoughout the history especially though the dark ages.

Clear as mud, lol! Thanks! I don't attend a Baptist church but I have much in common as I know we share a good portion of the same beliefs.

Anabaptist = rebaptizers

Belief that only Believer's Baptism was valid (as one who had the ability to make a decision to follow Christ) Denied infant baptism.

Well, that makes sense. I was baptized a second time because I wasn't really a true believer the first time. I also reject infant baptism.
