Thankyou for your observations 'rocknanchor' and you have raised a number of valid points. I especially like your reference to brother Ananias laying hands on Saul, who became Apostle Paul. All believers hath the privilege of ministering what God gives through them. As the Pentecostal/Assemblies of God forum here,we can only state what our AOG core beliefs are based on the Word of God. Visitors are very welcome but must not teach against what is believed. We respect your opinions but they should be expressed elsewhere if they go against what is believed by AoG. Wherever there is something genuine there can be a counterfeit, but this does not rule out the real thing. We believe in 'being filled with the Holy Spirit'. The first time this happens to a believer is spoken of in Scripture as the 'baptism in the Holy Spirit' and the scriptural pattern in Acts and Epistles is that speaking in tongues is the initial evidence of being 'baptised in the Holy Spirit'. There are so many things that we can discuss and share on that help us to build each other up and encourage and inspire in the Christian Faith. May God bless and keep us all in His love.

    Thanks for the comments!

Understand, that is, as much as I know of AoG. Although it’s my home dwelling, and we were instructed to be submitted to one another, I did have a few things that ruffled, but that went along the lines of which party was really to be faulted for exceeding liberty. Well through all these petty instances, it really can work against the element of “one accord”, and it really isn't my wish. For it can also work against a tranquil environment for the Holy Spirit to minister.

Do advise if I overstep here sir.

    Hello tturt, quietbloke, viewers.

Quietbloke, may I continue to indulge the topic sir? It is actually refreshing to see someone for a change within the AOG to put punctuation on resisting unwanted notions. I’ve seen the liberal introduction to the AOG some years back, and some of the old-time brethren, possibly you too know what I am referring to. So, I really don’t mean to stir up anything related to its keeping, please understand, except for one if possible, our gift (II Tim 1:6).

A wonderful topic brother, one of the tops.

Sharing Christ with others is essential. That's why it is important to be filled with the Holy Spirit!

Worship and prayer is important. Being filled with the Spirit brings us nearer to God,worshipping in 'spirit and in truth' and interceding in the Spirit.

An example of one who was "filled with the Holy Spirit" and "not drunk with wine" is John the Baptist. Kind of shifts your view of what being filled with the Holy Spirit means, 'eh?

    Luke 1
13 But the angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. 14 And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, 15 for he will be great before the Lord. And he must not drink wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb. 16 And he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God,
17 and he will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready for the Lord a people prepared."

Good observation,'AGTG'. That was before Pentecost but now the way to be filled with Holy Spirit is very clear' Repent and be baptised..and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit'. Hulleluyah!

That was in Acts Chapter 2, but in chapter 10 the gentiles had the spirit poured out on them and they spoke in tongues, and they were not baptized.

In Acts of the Apostles 8 there was another outpouring and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit. In the (Acts of the Apostles 10:44-47) Cornelius and his household,Gentiles, received what Peter described as being 'baptised in the Holy Spirit' (The Acts of the Apostles 11:15) and they were baptised in water after, because they did'nt know the command when they were first converted. The Holy Spirit came upon the Ephesian disciples (The Acts of the Apostles 19:6) So the Scriptural pattern is still, repent,be baptised.. and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit'

I wonder if W2L simply means believers who administer the Baptism?

For it is indeed a pattern. Sometimes we see the Holy Spirit baptism carried out in the tradition of worship. But sometimes we see the administering of the Spirit in the informal reference of “evil” (Luke 11:9-13), or, “wretched man that I am” tradition of condition.

If Jesus, as baptizer with the Spirit is omnipresent (Ps 139:7), upon receiving believers to be blessed of the Holy Spirit through those who are also believers (Rom 15:19; ICor 12; Heb 2:3-4), what is that? If they are already Baptized into Christ (I Cor12:13), is Luke’s verses 9-13 held back till someone can come and bless them if absent?

If W2L means they were not baptized at all, we see from the text this isn’t possible,

“He [Jesus] will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” (Matt 3:11)
