BCP or CW?

I want our liturgists to be thinking critically about the liturgy.

I see. So it's used rather like Rite I is in TEC, these days.

This, sadly, describes both of the Episcopal churches I've been to. The bigger one had a couple younger people in it, but they were both altar servers, maybe even the rector's children or grandchildren.

My parish is an exception. Though all ages are represented, our average age is 27 (if I remember the statistic correctly -- and if I don't, it's close).

Of course the average age can be misleading if Sunday school is full of the congregations great grandchildren. One seventy year old and 2 ten year olds averages out at 30.

Now for me, all these service books cause a problem! XD

I love the language of the old BCP (Canada 1962), but the most popular service book we have is the BAS (or Book of Alternative Services, basically the Canadian version of CW). I love praying with the BCP, but I love the content and progressive values of the BAS.

I dislike the lack of poetry in the BAS, but I feel myself floating on the sonorous verses of the BCP!

Most parishes use the BAS, a few (and the Continuing Anglicans) use the BCP, and the parish I like to attend mixes them both with the Old Sarum Rite! XD

CW for Holy Communion.
CW for Morning and Evening Prayer.
Except in public worship where I enjoy BCP for Mattins/Evensong

My church uses CW, but they do have a service using BCP on a Sunday afternoon. I like the BCP, but understand why CW was adopted.

We have our early morning dusty 1662 service, but all others are drawn from CW.

We cherry pick the liturgy and project bespoke services. The average parishioner will not have a clue about the extent of CW (nor care).
