Another take on the 'blaspheming the Holy Spirit' discourse is that it means hardening your own heart against the Spirit, refusing to allow him to work in your life by guiding you to repentance etc.
So if you go a certain way down that road it becomes unforgivable?

How so? Granted, the scriptural example was a current miracle, and current miracles still do happen.

But, how could someone "accidentally" charge that the miracle was done by the devil when they knew darned well it was GOD? If you are trying to get people to not follow God, you would have to intentionally harden your heart to the extreme.
The Bible story you told has people right there blaspheming the holy spirit as if its almost an expected response from some people. So it cant be all that hard to do.

I realize that is a popular evangelical teaching; but it does not hold up to the context of the gospel records. It is writing your own doctrine into the biblical narrative - eisegesis. Not a good thing.

Not really. They KNEW it was from God (read John 3. ) but went against it anyway.

And current miracles are not common; and most deny they even exist.

That said, when Our Lord was performing miracles regularly, it would have been much easier to commit than it is today.

Think of it as a repeated and ultimately final refusal to repent. But think of that in the context of the fact that we all sin, all the time. So if a person has even the slimmest will left to fight then they aren’t done yet.
