  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Yes, but he was a muslim at 6 years old? Will it be a scandal when it comes out. Maybe there are more people in congress who were muslims at age 6,7,3,2 or even, 1 years old! Maybe we should have a senate hearing on this to uncover them?

Don't make the mistake of minimizing the effect of wahabbi indoctrinition.

It will take a generation to offset the danger to us of that teaching, even if we stop it instantly right now. and that would be almost impossible.

Why would anyone vote for a person who attended a muslim school when he was 6 years old and then a Christian one at 8 years old? Should the requirement be that you are born a Christian?

No one is born a Christian. They are reborn.

That e-mail is a fraud.

Here's more on his beliefs

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_obama

Personal life

While working at the corporate law firm Sidley Austin LLP in the summer of 1989, Obama met Michelle Robinson, then an associate attorney at the firm. They married in 1992, and have two daughters, Malia (born 1999) and Sasha (born 2001). The Obamas are members of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ.[117][118] Of his religious affiliation, Obama has written:
I was drawn to the power of the African American religious tradition to spur social change. [...] In the history of these struggles, I was able to see faith as more than just a comfort to the weary or a hedge against death; rather, it was an active, palpable agent in the world. [...] It was because of these newfound understandings–that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice, or otherwise retreat from the world that I knew and loved–that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity United Church of Christ one day and be baptized. It came about as a choice and not an epiphany; the questions I had did not magically disappear. But kneeling beneath that cross on the South Side of Chicago, I felt God's spirit beckoning me. I submitted myself to His will, and dedicated myself to discovering His truth.[119]
Keep in mind, though, that the United Church of Christ is not the same denomination as the "Church of Christ" that you see all throughout the South. The United Church of Christ is an extremely liberal organization.

According to their official website, which links here, the United Church of Christ's seminary is hosting a "transgender conference."

The church supports abortion rights.

The church openly condones homosexuality.

Now, it would seem to me that if Obama was, in fact, a Muslim at heart, he would be very welcome in a UCC congregation.

And if he is a dangerous fanatical Muslim then he wouldn't be accepting of the UCC enough to attend there.
I just finished reading the chapter of The Audacity of Hope entitled "Faith" last night. If you haven't read it, I highly reccommend that you do. It will give you much insight into what is being discussed.

Not necessarily. While I do not wish to equate the junior senator from Illinois with the terrorists who hijacked the planes, I do want to make the following observation....

The terrorists tried the darndest to blend in to American culture. They didn't come to the US blatently wearing their militant faith on their sleeves. They did everything they could to fit in---then when we were caught off guard, they struck.

Now, the senator may be as pure and innocent as the wind-driven snow, but if he were a militant islamacist, don't you think that he would pick an accomodating religious denomination and play the part of a good Christian man....or do you think he would be blatent about his intentions?

Again, I am not saying that the man is a Muslim. I am just pointing out that if he were one at heart, he picked the best denomination to fit in.

Speaking of which, the fact that he is a part of such a liberal denomination would lead me to vote against him---muslim talk notwithstanding.

Yes, it's a possiblity that he is a Muslim, but a lot of things are possible.
Maybe I'm a Muslim trying to convince you to vote for him.:D ;)
Also, I must defend the UCC. They are in some ways too liberal for me (and if they are too liberal for me then they must be too liberal). Some of their liberality is great though. Their slogan for either last year or year before last was "God is still speaking..." and "Don't put a period where God has put a comma..."
Which could possibly be taken to liberal extremes, but is a good message in and of itself.
Some of accused CF of defining Christianity in too strict of terms, but the UCC even has its own CF Christian faith icon -

You couldn't convince me to vote for him. My former boss may be setting up his exploratory committee on the Republican side any day now.

Will we have any decent people running for president in 2008 that actually have a chance?
I believe so.

Remember that a whole bunch of indecent people are running against each other.... they will tear each other down.

The issues are too often narrowed down to a few items that never get resolved. Keep looking at the big issues that will impact our lives -- jobs, taxes, the economy, security, education, the balance of international involvement...

Senator Clinton has worked her butt off in NY, and even though her dialogue concept seems contrived, she has operated with that mentality for the last few years. She shows respect for those she works with, and collaborates to make mutually beneficial partnerships.

I am not comfortable with the quickly-covered history Whitewater, or her past desire to almost socialize health care, and many here shudder at her liberal stance -- but she is a hard worker and attends well to the regions put in her care.

However, Obama is full of empty slogans, created from empty beliefs. The only thing he will serve to do is drive this nation "forward" to a socialist agenda which will only make it harder for me to actually make a life for myself. His foreign policy will probably be the same weakness and degeneracy we have come to expect from Western politicians. Pretending to support peace in the ME, but by our policies actually insuring that things get worse. Opposition to Israel (while at the sametime claiming to support Israel), and inaction to threats that exist in the world. Retreat, lots of talk, and shame and sin upon the United States because of brainless policies which prove Osama's point that we are merely "paper tigers". What we need is a person who will not be afraid to confront our enemies and speak the truth.

For that, Tom Tancredo is my man.

What we as believers need, is someone who is not afraid of our enemies, and loves them, just as christ loved us.

What we believers need, is someone who doesn't serve our other master, our personal wealth, that we value more than love of god, and like unto it the love of others.

Whenever we hear of a loss of money, to improve the lives of others, we claim the orator to be a socialist, I guess Jesus would be a socialist too, in telling the rich man to give all his wealth away to charity.

If you're, going to use a term like "socialist", then brother or sister, you better down right explain what that means.

Secondly, we as Christians, know that our life with God, does not begin until we are born again. My family was hindu, and yet I am a born again Christian, and while people of this world may judge me and say my brief past is who I am, the people of God, should see me from my new beginning. In Obama's case, he was a little kid, attending a muslim school against his will, for a speck of time, to assume that this short period, some how puts him in the category of a muslim extremist, is a bit naive, and very unchristian like, if you ask me.

Stop thinking like the men of this world.

As for Tancredo, what exactly are you opposed to? This man is a good Christian. Just because he isn't a socialist, doesn't mean he's your complete opposite.

"During a radio interview on Orlando talk-radio station WFLA AM 540, Tancredo responded to a questioner asking about the hypothetical U.S. response to a nuclear attack on U.S. cities by al-Qaeda, by saying that one response would be to retaliate by "taking out" Muslim holy sites (specifically, Mecca)"

Sounds a like a smart future president to me, why not just do the christian thing, and blow up the entire middle east?

Maybe that came from the military's observation that militants have not been afraid to use their own mosques as military hideouts and ammunition storehouses. I would certainly not promote this! but the quote might have come out of context. ...Crossing my fingers it was...
