We are very different from the AOG group. Alot of it centers around the Ministry and Person of the Holy Spirit.

The AOG group are very similar to the Charismatic movement. However there are some differences even between these two groups.

I do believe that there are at least as many saved in the AOG church as there are unsaved in the Baptist church.... that'll give ya something to chew on for awhile. ;)

Would anyone care to expound upon those differences? I'd like to see a head-to-head comparison myself.

AoG believes the baptism of the Holy Spirit is something the believer must seek and that its manifestations are tongues and other spiritual gifts; Baptists believes the baptism of the Holy Spirit occurred at Pentecost and that every believer has the Holy Spirit and has no need to seek a Spirit baptism. AoG believes the sign gifts are operative today; Baptists believes the sign gifts were given to the Apostles and ceased with the passing of the Apostles. AoG believes the Holy Spirit "slays" people; Baptists believes "spirit slaying" is unscriptural and demonic. AoG believes the gift of tongues is operative today; Baptists believes the gift of tongues had a temporary purpose and that its purpose ceased in the first century. AoG believes salvation can be lost; Baptist believes salvation is eternally secure.

As to "what else"...

The AOG follow the "Word of Faith" theology (*Note this may not apply to every single AOG church, this is my experience with many AOG churches in Canada and some in the U.S., there are, assuredly, exceptions).

The Word of Faith theology teaches that there is "power in our words", this is the philosophy of such as Kenneth Haggin, Kenneth Copeland, Benny Hinn, and many others.. They believe that it is the absolute will of God that we be healthy and wealthy (you may have heard of this as the "blab it and grab it" gospel). All things can be controlled by what they call the "annointing" and if you are sick it is because you lack faith. This naturally ties in with their ideas on the ministry of the Holy Spirit. They are highly covenental in their theology (it is a stretch to call it theology).

This is the MAJOR difference and includes such other items as their mode of interpretation (or lack of).

The tongues (about which I hold a Baptist view) issue is nothing in comparison to this flaw.

Hope that helps.
