Ok.. that was BIG. LOL! I have a question about whether playing Backgammon is ok, being that it has no definite origin, other than Mesopotamia. Does anyone know?

I'm confused as to why that would make playing a game wrong. It's a game.

Backgammon is a favorite pastime of old Israeli men, and is caled shesh-besh in Israel. FYI.

I would think it would be more important to know why Backgammon was created, rather than where.
Ouija boards and Tarot Cards are used to communicate with the dead/foretell the future. I am not
aware of a similar usage for Backgammon.

BTW, what do you mean about leaving a portal open?
