They don't care, they only care about money. The name of the game is to deny there is any environmental impact from industrial waste or pollution. At some point, in about 12 years (and probably earlier than that), we will enter a point of no return, after which they will then say, "Well, any effort we make will not have an impact, so let's not waste our time doing it." In the end, they simply want to make money without hindrances (i.e., taking care of the environment is a hindrance).

For a more balanced view of "dumping" I refer readers to the Great Barrier Reef Authority's point of view. The article is about 4 or 5 years old, but "dumping" is not new.

Meanwhile I assume the readers above drive cars, heat their homes etc, and do their own bit towards increasing the planet's carbon footprint.

We also don't have any control over sludge from flooding. The recent run-off from Cyclone Oma for example was the result of a year's worth of rain in nine days on Townsville. We don't control the weather and neither does anybody else, except God. So you'll have to take that up with Him.
