Apparently the US police are not the only police in the planet that are being accused if abusing citizens. In Australia the police have used pepper balls, rubber bullets and rifle butts to crackdown on lockdown protestors.

They even are accosting people at their homes while doing "welfare" checks and questioning them about being involved or planning on being involved in protests.

It seems that a lot of people should be upset of the treatment of these peaceful protestors in Australia.

Don't believe everything that you read or hear. I live here. Sometimes the police stop motorists and check that their travel is within the scope of restrictions. I've not been stopped recently, but when I have been, the police were polite and friendly. I have a friend with what appears to be early dementia. She got out of the car once and started chatting to the cops. No mask. They just waited until she got back in the car (while I was apologising profusely). All good, they said.

It is pretty obvious that some protestors are using the COVID protests to promote a different agenda. There is nothing new about this. Various left and right wing groups have been hijacking protests since the Vietnam War era. Journalists have been known to inflame things to get a better story. Not in the recent protests though.

The police have a wretched job to do, made worse because some protestors set out to provoke a reaction. Like it or not, protestors are breaking the law and putting lives at risk in the process.

The stupidity of all this is that the more violent the protest, the greater the reaction will be from law enforcement. We already have a closet Marxist as Premier of the state. Marxists look for any excuse to enforce greater control over people. Rioting is utterly counter productive.

If you want examples of heavy handed enforcement, France and the UK are way out in front of Australia. We've a way to go before we are as bad as the USA. No one brings guns to a riot here. We have laws that prevent that.

God says to obey the authorities for good reasons. Christians should be on board with that.

Ah.. the old my cops are not that bad defense.

It appears that your cops are no better than ours. If one is going to try and make our cops bad, well then we ought to at least be fair about it and point out how cops everywhere are bad.

Or is it just that the USA just sucks all around?

Why don't you talk to the police and find out just what garbage they have to put up with. I know a retired cop. I've had a little bit to do with the police, not because I'm a lawbreaker but from being 70. They are human. They have good days and bad, they are paid not all that well to do a job that brings them into contact with some of the nastiest human beings. They clean up the remains of the victims of drunk drivers, they have to chase down said drunks who leave their victims to die, they get the fun job of trying to talk down a meth head who wants to kill everyone.

Cops are not inherently any worse than anyone else. If you were being beaten and robbed, I'm fairly sure that a cop would be a welcome sight. They don't get to make the law. They are paid to enforce it. If people obeyed the law, they would not have a problem, at least in most Western countries.

One characteristic of a cop is that they are almost always control freaks. It's the nature of the job and it attracts that kind of person. If you have a problem with the Western world, try China, North Korea, Russia and places without democracy or any oversight. If you really are bothered, try praying for the police. Beats sitting in judgement on them.

Does God have anything to say about bearing false witness? Andrews is not a closet Marxist, any more than Morrison is a closet Nazi.

It seems that a lot of people should be upset of the treatment of these peaceful protestors in Australia.

Were those the same peaceful protestors who attacked police and threw bottles at them,
or the same peaceful protestors who smashed in the doors of the CFMEU headquarters,
or the same peaceful protestors who blocked the Westgate bridge and intimidated drivers stuck in their blockade,
or the same peaceful protestors who spat on nursing staff going to work, resulting in hospitals asking staff to remove their lanyards and uniforms,
or the same peaceful protestors who made death threats to a CBD vaccine clinic, forcing its closure?
or the same peaceful protestors who took over the shrine of remembrance and urinated on it?

THOSE peaceful protestors ?

I was disappointed they stopped at rubber bullets. I would have added water cannon and tear gas

Australian police have jurisdiction over the people in Australia. It seems Things are Tough All Over the world. I have noticed Australia hasn't suffered near the amount of unnecessary deaths that America has.
One tenth, near enough. I don't like the restrictions, I don't like not being able to fellowship, but neither do I want to see 10 times the death rate. It's war. Sacrifices are necessary.

Do you live here? In Victoria? If you do, you should be aware of the progressive, leftist agenda that is now forcing Christian organisations to accept homosexuals into their workforce. You should be aware that Chairman Dan made secret deals with China to promote Chinese interests in Australia. There are plenty of not so secret deals also.

This is with a state that has used its economic muscle to punish Australia for wanting truth, for wanting to uphold international law and to have its citizens treated honestly and fairly while resident in China. China is also building up its military forces and threatening stability in this regions. Meanwhile, the government of Victoria is selling off the state to Chinese interests (sorry, allowing China to invest). This is publicly disclosed on the government's website.

Dan Andrews is one of most left leaning premiers this state has ever seen. Allying himself to China now is a conflict of interest at best. Denying the right of organisations not to employ people whose world views conflict with the organisation is straight out social engineering, typical of control freak socialism. I wonder how Mr Andrews would respond if a Neo Nazi applied for a job with the Labor party.

The government tells us we have to listen to the science. Then they make it illegal to try and talk a child out of of wanting to change gender. So science suddenly becomes irrelevant. It's just another progressive (ie leftist) attempt to break down the family unit, a key principle of modern Marxism (Check out BLM website which states this publicly).

There is more, but I've said enough. I do not believe in protesting or civil disobedience unless obviously justifiable. My kids are grown up. If I had a young family, I would defy the law that says I can't stop my kid from changing gender.

I rarely bother about politics. Neither party is squeaky clean. But there is a line, and Mr Andrews has crossed it

It's easy to trample the rights and basic dignity of a people who are disarmed.

How many gun related deaths in the USA? How many in Australia? I don't see any dignity in giving a drug addled loser an AR15 so he can shoot up a school.

Abbotsford.

Good. The less Christians like you get to dehumanise and denigrate folk, the better.

Rarely seen so much untruth, propaganda and outright lies in one place. Probably best if you stay out there on the peninsula, keep sucking down the Murdoch press, leave the city to me.

If you are correct and there is no God, then your words mean no more than static on the radio during a thunderstorm. One day I'll come across and atheist who understands the implications of his beliefs. You are welcome to the city. I haven't been there for years. By choice.

Cops shouldn't be going door to door asking people if they plan on attending a protest beforehand while taking notes. I would expect that from communist China.

The Australian government seems to take on a parental role, viewing citizens as children who need to be not only punished for bad behavior, but guided as well... I'm glad the United States doesn't try and 'parent' me... That's the difference between US style freedom and what other countries offer.

When you say "like you" it directs attention toward the specific poster you're talking to, and directs all your accusations toward him directly.

...That's a bad idea, IMO.

I got a mouthful (not that I care) for saying that we have a closet Marxist for a Premier.

Police do what they are told. I've not seen the report and certainly I've not been asked that question. I have seen reports that the police have sought help to track down protestors. There are a whole lot more doors than there are cops so I'm surprised that they would be wasting time in that way. If you have a link to the report, I'll check it out.

If you want really bad policing, try the UK. Christians have been arrested for quoting from the Bible in response to a question from a member of the public. One was arrested for having 1 Corinthians 6:9 on his computer screen in his own premises. I'm English by birth. I still am, even though I've lived here for 55 years. I went back in 2016 for a week. It's a mess. The "dark satanic mills" have been replaced with minarets. The most common boys name is Mohamed. Australia has not sunk that low as yet.

It's so sad how bad it's gotten in the UK... Just as recently as the 1980's it seemed like such a great place.

What a monumental shame.
