Though us men can't get that experience, we can get the experience of a profoundly better state of mind, such as possibly for example, for some, hiking for days on the Pacific Coast Trail, or in mountains, or possibly from days of meditation, or for some other during a late night walk, or a dawn walk, and perhaps for some in great music. There's better than day after day of grey sameness, thinking you've seen all, known all that matters. That's worse than being in a pit, I'd think. I'd rather be thrown in prison for new thoughts, put on trial like Socrates or Christ, than merely have a I-already-know-all dullness.
