Sadly, we can all count on there being several more of these pointless killings before the year is up. Then we reset the counter for the new year and see if we can come in under our previous record.

I really don't know what else to say anymore other than this is probably one of the worst facets of American society. Not the shootings themselves.... Our inability to actually find a solution to the problem. Or rather, our inability to employ the known solutions to the problem, like most other countries have.

Because it is a deadly weapon that can instantly change people lives if used improperly, recklessly or irresponsibly. Just like with cars.

There is a difference between training and basic military training. Not everyone who owns a gun needs the latter.

Four or more people killed or injured is a lot. I think considering that definition a problem speaks to the broader issue of the new normal. You don't need 500 shot and 70 dead for it to be a mass shooting. We've seen this problem with genocide too where some believe millions need to die in order for it to be considered genocide.

Genocide has a legal definition. You can throw it around all willy nilly if you want, but people are free to call you on it.
