I'm not the 'denialist' on this topic. I've actually engaged the topic head-on at multiple times. The true denialist are those who refuse to even consider evidence they might be wrong, such as the closed-minded baller.

According to the true reality? I don't know. But I didn't know how it would have stayed up there when I was an ignorant baller either, other than the basic garbage assumptions we were all told, such as it's constantly falling over the curve (hogwash).

But it's easy to see there can be things up there somehow, otherwise you wouldn't of had the Apollo astronauts faking earth curve footage through the capsule window, while in low earth orbit 9 hours before they supposedly landed on the moon, which was still several days away according to their claims. And yes, there is actual dated raw NASA footage of this event. It's not something I made up.

You might want to revisit that assumption, because you're in for a shock.

I trust when I see a ship go 'over the horizon' with my own eyes, then fully reappear using some sort of lens to zoom in on it, then later once again 'go over the horizon', only to once again to fully reappear with a stronger lens. And the process can be repeated over and over limited only by the tools used and the atmospheric conditions.

I've done some of this myself, but have also seen the results from people with far more powerful devices than I have, who were pulling ships back into full view 30+ miles away. There's no curve for them to go over.

Ummm, no. More of a "Look. The world is still flat, just as I've been saying."

Tried it and it didn't work. I don't believe you have.

EDIT: Besides, according to your argument, with a powerful enough telescope, you could see anywhere on earth from anywhere else. Show me a photo of Mount Everest taken from NYC then.

That's fine. It doesn't require your belief.

you are quite frankly lying, because what you say is impossible.

I would bet you any amount of money giving you 10:1 odds that what you say is not true. We could go to any shore on the planet, let any ship set sail, and that ship would disappear over the horizon and it doesn't matter how strong a lens you have, you aren't seeing it.

    basic physics and trigonometry 101...

If there were a curve, what you say would be true. But the fact it does come right back into view demonstrates there is no curve.

I take it that you've ridden in a car, train, and airplane correct?

Each of those systems are comprised of thousands of parts that are based on various engineering principles that in turn are based on various principles of physics which in turn are based on various mathematical principles.

Our entire system of technology is best thought of as a combination of a chain linked fence and a house of cards. There is an interdependency from one principle to another to yet another and on and on and on...

If even a fraction of what you think were true, our entire basis of technology would be impossible. You do not understand the implications of what it is you are saying.

If the world were not a curve, if the world were in fact flat, then that would mean that the force of gravity does not follow the 1/r^2 law. This alone would completely decimate most of our engineering principles meaning that all that technology you take for granted would not work.

if what you say about atmospheric absorption were true, then fiber optics as we know it would not work nor would radio waves or television signals...

in any event, there is nothing I can say that will change your mind. In the next 20 - 30 years, space travel to low earth orbit will be affordable. Perhaps when you go up in space and see for yourself that will change your mind. In the next 40 - 50 years trips to the moon will be affordable as well. Perhaps when you are actually sitting on the moon looking down at Earth you will finally come to believe that the Earth is not flat.

If you took him to the shore and tried that, here's how it would go.

You: Okay, the ship is now definitely over the horizon. You can't see it anymore.

    Him: Zoom in.

You: Okay *puts on binoculars* Nope, still can't see it

    Him: Zoom in further

You: Okay *takes out telescope* Nope, still can't see it

    Him: Zoom in further!

You: Okay *takes out bigger telescope* Nope, still nothing

    Him: Zoom in further!!

You: Okay *takes out a telescope bigger than yourself* Nope, don't see anything

    Him: ZOOM IN FURTHER!!!

You: That's the biggest telescope I have...

Him: Well if you had a bigger one you would be able to see it!

That's a cute little assumption you are using there, but I think it's just more of an exaggeration on your part rather than anything rooted in reality.

What's actually funny is when we measure light reflection or laser light from shorelines 20+ miles away, we are told that of course we can see it because refraction is bending light over the curve, but when a ships hull disappears at 3+ miles, we are told of course we can't see it, it's blocked by the curve.

Just do a search for such footage using terms like 'ships, boats, horizon, nikon p900'. You'll find footage of all kinds of things coming 'over the curve' when people zoom in.

Except examination of those videos shows that the objects weren't actually below the horizon at all. And when you approach a mountain from the sea the top appears first... explain that.

His explanation is 'they're up there, but I don't know what they are or how they work. But they're definitely not in space and orbiting the earth, because reasons.'
