it's *possible* that Adam & Eve's kids mated with those who were one step behind us in evolution
or, that sex with the women who where "one evolutionary step behind us" sometimes produced offspring
personally I think that Adam & Eve had tons of children, as many as she could knock out, BEFORE Eve decided to eat from the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil
and that Cain corrupted them all over time
