Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.

Considering they're more real and genuine, they should be. 500 years ago they're the norm. Now they're laughed at by fakes.

    So true, so true!
Any genuine believer are called to reject NA. Its in discontinuation with the apostolic faith of the pre-councillor church.

The Deity of Islam is nowhere near the same God as God the Father. Its blasphemous to even imply such a horrendous heresy.

What is it exactly that you find so bad about Nostra Aetate? It's short, clear, and pretty obvious. We are all related as humans, most humans have some religious insights, many of them have a grain of truth, and those ought to be promoted by us as a doorway to the fuller truth the Catholic Church teaches. That and not hating the Jews as Christ-killers. The wrap-up is "Besides, as the Church has always held and holds now, Christ underwent His passion and death freely, because of the sins of men and out of infinite love, in order that all may reach salvation. It is, therefore, the burden of the Church's preaching to proclaim the cross of Christ as the sign of God's all-embracing love and as the fountain from which every grace flows."

I think the issues with Nostra Aetate are by those who read too much into the words of it, either those on the 'left' or those on the 'right'. In and of itself, it's fine. Even fine about the Muslims. I understand Islam as essentially a Christian heresy, an icon breaking heresy at it's core. And Mohammad as a warlord. But that does not deny that Islam is monotheist and also that there is more respect for Mary in Islam than among most Protestants.

Their image of God is so far from ours that it's not the same God.
The question remaining will then be if any monotheistic faith will be a diversion of the Christian God, a notion which I reject wholeheartedly.

I don't know whether your understanding of the deity Muslims pray to has been informed by living among Muslims, or working with them, or reading their Koran and Hadiths. My judgement is that they have a defective view of the real God. Your mileage may vary. Even so, this is not to be a diversion from the pursuit of the Christian God, but a common element in our dialogue with them to get onto the path of understanding God as we Christians do. They are monotheists as are we, which means we have a point to begin talking. They've got a lot wrong, but some right. It's our mission to bring them, if possible, to the fullness of faith in the God we share, based on the full revelation given to the Church. Nostra Aetate doesn't say to be all accepting of Islam as salvific. That is impossible. It does give us a basis to begin talking. That is part of our mission.

My view is based upon reading the Quran and if you do I'll bet my last penny you'll see why I reject any such notion.

I've read the Quran and Hadiths, lived with Muslims, worked with Muslims. Islam is strange but not absolutely alien. The prayers for Good Friday accord with Nostra Aetate.

Ok, that's fine. I guess we look at this differentially. Im with the SSPX when it comes to this particular document.

OK. We disagree. I'm with the Catholic Church when it comes to this particular document. And with 2000+ bishops who signed off on it at Vatican II and pope Paul VI.

To me it's all in the implementation. Currently we have folks who have adopted a politically correct attitude towards Islam. They have lost their sense of mission. Not the fault of Nostra Aetate. There is a different cause of the fuzzy thinking.

I like to think about the society of saint pius X as the conscience of the church.
Its the only touch Rome has with her traditional roots.

I would give that to the FSSP before SSPX. There are issues outside of Theology with the SSPX and a few within it that can be an issue.
