It's hard to say that a specific element of climate change is the worst because all of them are interconnected.

Frankly, thing like the Clathrate Gun Hypothesis are terrifying.

Unfortunately the modern world is run primarily by machines that only function to create short term profit margins. A hundred years from now doesn't factor into the equation. And this thread is a good example of how effective those PR dollar have been fooling people into thinking it isn't happening.

This is exactly what scares me the most as well.

I have read estimates that anywhere from twenty million to one hundred million people become climate change refugees in Bangladesh alone with only a one meter rise in ocean levels........???!!!! Truly scary numbers!!!!!

The only thing that has saved us up until this time is the 293 or so CUBIC MILES of ice being ADDED to the central region of Antarctica.......but this is unlikely to continue for much longer???!!!!

Sorry, you four who voted it's a hoax. It is not a hoax. The data is too consistent. It is happening, and it is a fair bet we're to blame.

That said, yeah, I think trying to make the deserts green might be an idea. However, we need to be careful. Many to most such projects we have undertaken before have done more harm than good, so... I'm advicing caution. But if we CAN pull it off, it would probably be very good.

As to the original question: No. I am not worried that much about rising sea levels. I am far more worried about the possible consequences in terms of what species will survive and what will die as well as changes in weather patterns and their effect on life on this planet. I am also worried about the frozen methane currently trapped in tundra. If/when that is released we're in for a doozy.

I ran into a near death experience account again a few months ago after having not read it since back in the 1990's. What an amazing idea about helping peace to come to the Middle East through a deal between Jordan and Israel????!!!!

A plan to turn much of the desert of Jordan green..........would have to attract the attention of the King and political leadership of that nation........

Ocean pater change (or changes, it gets nastier if it changes and then once we have it sorted out changes again), or the impact of fewer cold winter days on blossoming of fruit trees is the kind thing that I think will be the real problem for humankind.

Another correct thing about your post is that yes.....the Arctic ice is nothing to worry about......it is sitting on water and thus as it melts has almost a zero effect on ocean levels.

The important thing is what is happening on the LAND BASED ice on Greenland!!!!????

Given just how extreme it was, it’s not too surprising that it would not be as extreme this year. As you can see by the graph here, the sea ice extent (which essentially represents how much area is covered by ice) was incredibly low last year and is still lower than average this year. The thawing permafrost contains a methane bomb that will accelerate global warming and with Russia next door, it also contains a pretty frightening dirty bomb: the Russian nuclear waste and nuclear infrastructure buried in and built on permafrost.

The nation of Israel had the highest level of climate cooling in the world over the past fifty years......This was attributed to Global Dimming.....but another possibility is the fact that Israel led the world in planting trees and in desalinating ocean water for agriculture!!!!!!!!

Or we could invest in oil spill and arctic technology. With the thawing permafrost, there's just miles and miles of oil pipelines ready to collapse and with the retreating sea ice, new and new Deepwater Horizons just waiting to happen and people to make handsome profit of the catastrophes. Why fight the coming storm when you stand to profit from it anyway?
