In 1994 a place of worship was uncovered about 50 miles north of a place between the Tigris and the Euphrates river once called Beth Eden. The name of the archeological dig, which many academics are proclaiming the most significant find ever, is called Gobekli Tepe - (pronounced Gobeeklee Tupay).
Archeologists are stunned by it because according to their Old Earth thinking that classifies eras as Neolithic, Mesolithic and Sedentist, there were no places of worship prior to sedentism. In other words, places of worship did not exist when man was primarily nomadic, gathering and hunting for food. It never happened until he settled down. So if an archeological find has no sign of agricultural development it is thought to date to the neolithic period. And in this case, the dating evidence, they say, is fortified by Carbon 14 methods.
The main features of the dig are T shaped stones several tons in weight, that had to have been rolled up the mountains, at a time assumed to be prior to the invention of the wheel - quite a prodigy. The T shaped stones are set up along walls of small stones in circles. And they have reliefs of animals on them, many that in Jewish anthropology would have been considered unclean - snakes, spiders, crawfish, pigs, but also clean animals such as lambs. All of these are carved onto the T shaped stones.
The site, they say, was buried deliberately and they find this very strange, because it appears the intent was to preserve it rather than to destroy it.
I am mentioning all of this here for two reasons. First, the atheists are touting it as proof that the JudeoChristian faith is not the first faith and proof that there was no flood. To them it is a triumph over traditional religion. And this calls for an academic response from those who defend the Scriptures.
The second reason, is that I think I know something that these archeologists don't. They say that they can't read or understand the pictographs that these reliefs mean. But for me, the interpretation seems very easy. The T shaped stones are a prediction of the cross of Christ. The fact that unclean animals are portrayed on them is to declare that which was unclean clean by means of the cross. The fact that clean with unclean both appear declares that all have fallen short of the glory of God. The fact that a lamb appears expresses our unity with the spotless lamb who also was slain. The fact that the cross is the central feature of this temple declares that the one true faith is the faith of the cross.
The fact that the site was buried deliberately not only represents the death and resurrection of Christ, but also all those who die and rise with Him. And one more thing - I believe that the site may have been created by Noah and his ancestors because they were aware of the coming flood and wished to send a message to the future generations that would last. The only way to do this was to support each of the crosses with walls of stones and then bury the entire site so that the waters would pass over it, rather than obliterate the message. Only stones last the test of time. It was deliberately designed to stand the passage of time.
The archeologists, because they assume dogmatically that the site must be 12,000 years old and that there could be no possible reference to Jesus Christ or Calvary, since that would be anachronistic, are unable to acknowledge that there is such a thing as prophecy, or that prophecy would have been warranted. They will not ever be able to see what I see very clearly.
One German documentary showed three painted T shapes on one of the walls. They photo-faded the center T shaped painting into a T shape stone. They think the T shaped stones are mysterious, but to me what they are is very obvious. I freeze framed that picture and uploaded it to my blog page, which will show you the picture of Calvary, including two human figures before the cross, in the midst of the three crosses, facing toward the central higher cross, which clearly has a human figure on it, apparently being crucified. There also appears to be a human figure on the cross at the left, and a foot plank pointing down on the cross on the right. The picture is almost exactly like one of the icons I have of Mary and John before the cross on Calvary. The positioning of the two human figures is expressive, even distressful. But, of course, any such speculation will be dismissed as "unscientific" by these archeologists. What they will conclude will necessarily take them in a very different direction.
In any event, here is my blog ... Generations . Go to date 9/1/10. I have placed the freeze framed image of Calvary on the top of my blog. If you keep reading it you will see a YouTube video of the German documentary I got the picture from. And this will lead to other YouTube videos on the same subject. I have to share this with as many people as possible because my little discovery within their discovery I think solves the problem of their discovery and is even bigger and better news in the world of archeology than any of them has actually even dreamed of. Not only does it not refute the Scriptures, it interprets them for us, validating orthodox Christianity.
