• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Anybody not getting GTA4?

You place three rounds in the chamber and leave the other three chambers unloaded.
You lock the cylinder into position and then give it a spin.
Next you switch the safety off and place the open end of the barrel against your head.
Once you have the barrel in position, you apply your finger to the triggering mechanism and squeeze it.
It MIGHT kill you, it MIGHT not.

But carrying out such an act, what does it say of yourself? God looks at the heart; and once all the earth was full of violence, even in the thoughts of the heart, and it was destroyed. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the time of the return of Christ. We are in those times.
Do you make it a habit to write a lot but not actually SAY that much?

Because they "might" cause a problem is not sufficent reason to prevent others from playing violent videogames. There are many people in this country who play these games and DO NOT go on murder sprees. That suggests that the risks for violent videogames are extremely low and only manifest when coupled with an already disturbed personality.

It's all dependent on what you choose to hear, obviously. He who has an ear, let him hear. But not all who have ears are able to hear, and not all who have eyes are able to see. I'm sure all those of Noah's day were blind, deaf and dumb, but that apparently was no excuse, they were all destroyed.

Steezie why do you keep saying this? nobody said the concern for our Christian brothers and sisters is that they might become violent and murder people. That wasn't even my original intention and you keep using that excuse. Have matters of the heart escaped you all together? Are we not spiritual beings and being in the flesh is only temporary? Didn't Jesus mentione about lust in the one's heart to explain that sin is not a physical thingl but one that starts in your mind and heartt THEN it might get translated into physical acts? Why do I feel you keep trying to make excuses or trying to justify everything while not mentioning scripture once to back what you're trying to justify?
I will pray that you ask God if whatever you do is ok and you start listening to what He has to tell you, not what you think is right. God bless steezie I really hope you stop playing violent games someday

Steeze is kinda right about that in a sense. I mean, at least from my experiences being around these forums for some time, some just come here to promote their particular view, such as Paganism in particular, and anything that threatens that view is the enemy thus a worthy target on all threads. They cant outright proselytize people into Paganism directly here, but they can promote things that teach Paganism and will in their hopes draw them into it or at least run off those that disagree with them.

Such as the supermod that is promoting the elder scrolls game modification in that recent thread here, I read the site about it and it is purely a Pagan/Occult game, profoundly. This is somehow doing CF a service? It’s difficult enough trying to convince Brothers and Sister in Christ that there really is evil at work in the world, that it is saturated in our popular entertainment, but on top of it you get to be mocked by those that promote Paganism etc.. and those with "Christian icons" get to join in the follow the leader games. Sadly the tactic works on many, I’ve seen quite a few that stick to the bible just get fed up with this forum and go elsewhere, and they know it works so they continue to do it on every level.

But of course as you know, as light has those that carry the gospel of peace, so too does darkness have those that carry the anti-gospel of death and destruction.

Ok I will tolerate a lot of static from most anyone but if you are going to insult what I believe in, do it right. Pagans are strictly against preaching and I think it displays a stunning lack of willful ignorance to say that KNOWING that I'll stick up for just about anybody on here regardless of who they are

No, Im not going to get it because of the content. Mind you, I have played GTA 3 and GTA:VC in the past. But this new one drops F-Bombs like flies. Even though it's getting rave reviews, is it really worth it? No. Not to me.
I think I will save my money.

For F.E.A.R. and the expansions. Super bloody at some points, but it adds to the effect of the supernatural events. Great game, the best shooter I've ever played. And I've played a lot.

There is nothing good about the game at all. The game (and the whole series) prides itself on stealing vehicles, gunning down innocents (maybe you don't have to, but still) and doing other things that I can't stand to see or be involved in, even virtually. Yes, playing it would probably not make me start killing people or the like, but it definitely has an impact on my attitude towards other people and towards life. Most importantly, it just disgusts me.

This is not a fair review because I just started the game, and I haven't played it online, and I haven't read up on this game at all so I don't even know what changes they made.

With that said, this game feels like all the other GTA games, with improved graphics.
I don't see why this game is getting such high reviews.

There is so much more depth and complexity to the story line in GTA IV. Niko is no crime lord or gangster like in the other games. Other people put him in terrible situations, and you actually feel sorry for him. How often did you feel sympathetic for the main character in a Grand Theft Auto series game?

And when you kill in the game, it's your choice. There are new missions where you have to choose whether to let people live or die. So the number of killings you have to offensively to do is greatly decreased. Then there are times you shoot others in pure self defense. It's a game that lets players choose to be violent or not. Yes, the game can very well be full of violence, but the PLAYER makes it that way.

If you're afraid of the violence in the game, be afraid of the violence in you.

is it me, or did someone in an earlier post compare playing violent video games to putting a half loaded gun to your head?

I've played violent video games and I've read the parts of the bible where people get curcified and stoned to death (also violent and also immersive) and neither have made me want to kill people or changed my personailty before. Video games exercise dexterity, imagination and problem solving skills and some games do even more than that, so why don't people think about that instead of the fact that there's blood in a few?

its my first time of owning a GTA game.

Graphics are acceptional, some cool next gen graphic effects.

I dunno why, this game just as too much reference to SIN.
Seriously, it has a HEAVY content of sex, swearing and violence.
I won't count the violence because its everywhere in games.

But serioulsy the sex and swearing is too much, ones mind can get corrupted by this!

I mean, Sex: you go to the internet cafe you see them, on tv, pick up hookers but I don't think they show you having sex also there is a strip club.

The swearing is like part of a english, like when you want to be polite by saying "please", that's exactly how the language is.

So far so good, I enjoy this game, I love the Jamaican abcent, just so surreal!
I like it when you get drunk, pretty funny.

But the biggest thing I like about this game is the realistic reality. You pull a gun in front of someone driving and they get out of the car. You pay congestion charges, different vehicles.

8/10
And I find the multiplayer online mode suck and boring!

I will sell this game, at first I seriously hated it, but its alright
