  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

any reason to rejoin the outside world?

having been inside (including wtr 2019) for last 16 mos, seems to be little reason for me to rejoin the outside world once Covid is in check

-churches are online
-taking online church couples class
-child is part of online church youth group
-child is now able to attend classes (worldwide)
-ordering online so no need to go inside anywhere
-we Skype with family

is there a reason to rejoin the world?

I guess I am fortunate that I never had to quarantine. The area where I live was not quarantined. The only requirement was that we wear a mask when going into businesses. Some businesses didn't require it even.

:) true...

A reason: Once Covid tamed, opportunities to love additional neighbors, in person.

I think human contact is something that is an objective need of humans because the suicide rate is going way up from all the lockdowns. A lot of our government officials seem to be looking at only one side of the equations. It's almost like they think that not getting this virus outways all other considerations. But there is a risk to living. You can't escape it. Sure you might prevent some infections but at what cost? It seems like the answer is we don't care what the cost is.

Most people don't want to risk being one of the unlucky 10% of people infected that are still suferring aftereffects months later. Or worse, the 0.5% or so that die. But yes, socializing is a very good thing for us.

Don't know really what you mean when you say,

"rejoin the world"

The world is more and more "on line".

Thing is when everything becomes dependent on being on line,

The world is spinning faster and faster it seems.

I try to keep my seat in the last carriage, better than in the first carriage if or when the train goes off the tracks.
