Well I don't profess to be a bassist (I'm a guitarist). But I do know it's important to lock in with the kick whenever I've been asked to play bass.

Yes, I play 4,5, and 6 string fretted and fretless. I've done mostly metal and rock but I'm writing Christian music now.

While it's not my main instrument, I enjoy playing bass tremendously. I usually play guitar in the praise team at my church, but don't mind being the "second string" bassist at all.

The instrument I currently am playing is one I designed and built back around 1990. It is a short scale 4 string with one Carvin J style pickup and extra caps on the tone control to get a very dark sound.

Play four and six string bass for three praise teams. Keeps me busy in the back music room reading standard notation and praise charts. Play a little pop music as well when I have the time.

Understand. I work Mon - Sat 7:00 - 4:00 and spare time is at a premium.

Can't get any more custom built than that! I am thinking about putting together a kit but with a set of switches for different capacitor values for a wider range of tone. We shall see if I have time for it...lol!
