With the first ban they were stopping people who had permission to come in and sending them back to one of these countries. Remember the mess at the airports. The ban has been changed twice since then when there were no exceptions.

There are some exceptions to the ban. Certain people from each targeted country can still apply for a visa for tourism, business or education purposes, and any applicant can ask for an individual waiver.

I assume you are praying that we reach out to more people fleeing tyranny and horrors? Praying that we take in the stranger without fear? So many people from these countries are trying to get away from daily horrors beyond our comprehension. I too hope for that.

I understand that it is scary to bring in the stranger and we certainly shouldn't open ourselves to attack, but what if we became the country that helped the most and gave the most and opened ourselves up to help others? Wouldn't that be cool? America already DOES give a lot to the world. We do a lot of good. But what if we opened ourselves up at home as well?

The scariest commands in the bible is to "resist not evil but turn the other cheek" and to love our enemy as ourselves. I wonder what our world would be like if we tried doing that a bit more.
