im pretty new to christianity myself, Lunar... was raised baptist, but i never really paid attention at the time. I was a practicing buddhist for 5 years, and came back to christ just 7 months ago... never looking back =)

Hiya,

Well I was raised as a Catholic, but since I moved to Northern Ireland started to feel that that church wasn't right for me. I turned away from Christ for several months but was lucky enough to have some great Christian friends who I started spending lots of time with, I turned back to Christ on the 17th March and am the happiest I've ever been!

Still just finding problems being open about my faith (I'm the type to always keep my feelings to myself) anyway I've found a great church with some great people in it, my prayer time has been incredible, and made me realise I never really knew Christ before. But I still just feel I'm holding back in all aspects of my life, I need to move out of my comfort zone!

Thanks for replying!

Hiya!!

I'm another newbie to your fab site (it's SOOO huge, not sure I'll keep up!) I'm also a newbie to Christianity so my life is changing quite a lot at the moment, still a little lost but getting there.

I live in Northern Ireland but am originally from England.
That's wonderful to hear! I am overjoyed that the Word of God is making great effect in Ireland, and that you love the Lord and His Gospel. I must confess it is quite surprising to hear that someone is being established in faith in Ireland, partly due to my lack of education of the place, and partly to due that I seem to generalize it with England (forgive me), where the people have such hard hearts. I confess that my surprise is a gross underestimation of God, and lack of faith that Christ is Lord over all. I am blessed to hear that you have come to know Christ as the only Savior and Lord. He is the way, the truth, the life, and no one comes to the Father but by Him, surely. I hope God greatly blesses you through your time here on the forum.

I am greatly encouraged to hear your words: "never looking back" yonderboy, it is wonderful to see such words. I wish I had them! I am a new Christian myself (2.5 years, roughly), and all the times I looked back, I have regretted it. Christ's words about loving the world and longing for the things of it, whether they be the ways of our unbelieving parents and friends or just general worldly desires, are piercing when I think of my own thoughts. What a great gift it is, faith without the hindrance of unbelief. God bless you brother!

But the same bigotry :(
Sadly very true :) It's amazing the number of people who go to church here, just so that they can feel superior to the other side.

Vessel of Mercy, you should come and visit England and Ireland some time, you probably have underestimated them a little, although I can see how England may seem to an outsider.

My view on it is that in Ireland, there is a heck of a lot of organised religion going on but just how many of those regular church goers could call themselves Christians I'm not so sure. A lot of people are there to make a point, and from Monday to Saturday lead very different lives. However there is a vibrant youth Christian scene and I am encouraged as I begin my life as a Christian here to meet some great Christians.

In England I feel that those people who go to church regularly are actually there because they want to be, but there do seem to be less Christians about.

But I have been very happy living in both places, and will actually be returning to England in October for university in Oxford - so I'll get to find out more about Christian life over there.

LunarSparkle,

I have just heard from some of our church's missionaries that there are very few believers in England compared to America, but those that are there are much more mature in faith than most American Christians. I hope God leads you to a great church there in England during your stay!
