Hello all,
First time poster here! Sorry if this is the wrong section to post to, I couldn't find a section dedicated to literature.
I am looking for a good encyclopedia or book that I can read alongside my bible which goes into great detail about the various civilizations that are in the bible. There are so many civilizations mentioned, especially in the OT, but they are only briefly mentioned most of the time. I would like to get a much more in depth understanding of the people during specific times. I guess I am looking to get something which will give me the bigger picture during biblical times.
I suppose it doesn't have to be biblical driven (history encyclopedia for example) but I would prefer it to be. The more detailed the better. Something with nice pictures, maps, drawings etc., would be a nice bonus!
Here is what I found so far, any thoughts appreciated
The Zondervan Encyclopedia of the Bible: Revised Full-Color Edition
Annals of the World: James Ussher's Classic Survey of World History
Thanks!
Kris
