End times prophesy really had a hold on me in the 80's too....
Came to a peak when I read Edgar Whisenant's book: 88 reasons why the rapture will be in 1988
I was super excited to find out I'd be flying up to meet the Lord in the Air in 1988...
The Bloom came off the rose however, after I read the less popular followup by the same author:

setting dates will do that...

my POV was "what form will the third angel's message take?" - In other words, how would a message like that reach the masses. To me, in the 80's, a pop song made perfect sense... but, times have changed... still happy to get this one out there...
