Note: I was sitting here thinking and this way of praying the Rosary came to my mind. I take no credit for it. I've seen an alternate way of praying the Rosary, a Lutheran version, that may have inspired this thought; but otherwise credit goes to God. It's not meant to replace the actual Rosary prayers, but is just a faster, simpler, straight to the point, alternative. It is quite Eastern. You don't need to worry about meditating on mysteries, either.

Begin (holding the Crucifix in your left [or right, I guess] hand): Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Crucifix: The Apostle's Creed

I believe in God,
the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ,
his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the
power of the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge
the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Large Bead: The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

3 Small Beads: O Most Holy Theotokos, save us! (...pray for us! may be substituted for 'save us!', if any Lutheran, Anglican, or otherwise interested user or viewer that may be uncomfortable with this Eastern prayer wants to make use of this alternative version of the Rosary.)

Large Bead: The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Medallion: The (Eastern) Hail Mary:

Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos, Mary full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
for thou hast borne the Savior of our souls.

10 Small Beads: The Jesus Prayer

O Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Large Bead: The (Eastern) Hail Mary

Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos, Mary full of grace,
the Lord is with thee;
Blessed art thou amongst women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb,
for thou hast borne the Savior of our souls.

*Say the Jesus Prayer on each series of 10 small beads, and the (Eastern) Hail Mary on each large bead all the way around. The Medallion essentially counts as a large bead in this sequence, much like the regular way of praying the Rosary. Once you get back to the Medallion, say the (Eastern) Hail Mary once more.

Conclude (holding the Crucifix): The Lord's Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

*You will end up saying the Lord's Prayer 3 times, Theotokos save us 3 times, the (Eastern) Hail Mary 6 times, and the Jesus Prayer 50 times.

:) neat idea
there are many different "chaplet prayers"
some are used on the rosary beads (sets of 10 and 1)
some have their own chaplet, like the 7 Sorrows of Mary Chaplet, and I think there is a chaplet prayers to the angels

have you ever prayed the Divine Mercy chaplet? that can also be done on a rosary

I like the idea of incorporating the Jesus Prayer in a broader format of prayers such as this. I want to try it today. Thanks. Careful with that gun.

An alternate Rosary, started with a vision from God, completed with the grace of God and borrowing from the Catholic version, the Lutheran version, and some Eastern prayers:

You can mediate on nothing at all or anything and everything. Just pray!

Crucifix: Sign of the Cross/Invocation; Apostle's Creed

1st Large Bead: Lord's Prayer
3 Small Beads: Hail Mary (Pre-Trent, Post-Trent, or Eastern; if Eastern, this prayer following each Hail Mary is optional: O Most Holy Theotokos, save [or 'pray for'] us!)
*Conclude with the Mini-Doxology (Glory Be)

2nd Large Bead: Lord's Prayer
*Skip the Medal moving counter-clockwise
10 Small Beads: Jesus Prayer (on each bead)
*Conclude with the Mini-Doxology (Glory Be)
*Continue to pray the Lord's Prayer at each large bead, the Jesus Prayer on each of the 10 small beads, concluding with the Mini-Doxology (Glory Be), all the way around until you reach the medal

Medal: Pray 1 Hail Mary (Pre-Trent, Post-Trent, or Eastern; if Eastern, this prayer following each Hail Mary is optional: O Most Holy Theotokos, save [or 'pray for'] us!) and 1 Jesus Prayer

Conclude: Holding the Crucifix, say the Apostle's Creed and finish with the Sign of the Cross/Invocation

Prayers in this Rosary:

The Apostle's Creed:

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic (Christian) Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Lord's Prayer:

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.

The Eastern Hail Mary and Holy Theotokos:

Rejoice, O Virgin Theotokos, Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, for thou hast borne the Savior of our souls.

O Most Holy Theotokos, save (or 'pray for') us!

The Mini-Doxology (Glory Be):

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Jesus Prayer:

O Lord, Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.

Also, you may wish to try this devotion. It has helped me to increase my prayer life with both this version of the Rosary, as well as incorporating Psalms, getting a good daily dose of Scripture, and taking time to reflect.:

Start with this Rosary to get yourself in a spiritual place and close with God.
Read 1 Pslam
Read 1 Chapter of Scripture
End with this Rosary, reflecting on what you have just read.

I said you don't need to meditate on mysteries if you don't want to, not that you don't meditate on Christ or anything at all. Naturally you should think of Christ when praying, or you're just being a zombie and that's a problem. When I say you don't need to mediate, I mean on the mysteries in the regular rosary. Note, again, that I said this is an alternate option, as it meditating on mysteries, and that it doesn't replace the normal rosary. It's another devotion.
