The United Kingdom's Parliament on Wednesday held President Joe Biden in contempt for his withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, calling the move "catastrophic" and "shameful."

Members of Parliament, including some who served alongside U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, accused Biden of "throwing us and everybody else to the fire" with his decision to withdraw. They also attacked Biden for his "shameful" criticism of the Afghan National Army and said it was "dishonourable" to blame Afghanistan's fighting force for the Taliban's takeover.


"Those who have never fought for the colours they fly should be careful about criticising those who have," said Tom Tugendhat, a British Army veteran of the Afghanistan war and the Conservative chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Biden is one of only a few U.S. presidents who have not served in the military.​

As US military sticks to airport, British and French forces are rescuing their citizens in Kabul: reports

As the Defense Department continues to stick to its plans of not reaching out into Kabul to assist U.S. personnel and Afghan helpers evacuate, British and French forces have done so to rescue their citizens, multiple outlets report.

The Daily Mail reported that London deployed an additional 300 troops to Kabul specifically to extract trapped British nationals earlier in the week. Within hours of touching down in Kabul, the British troops retrieved some 200 British nationals from around Kabul, the Telegraph reported. Prompting the mission were reports of Taliban hunting down former Afghan government officials, along with Britons stuck behind a web of Taliban checkpoints lining the route to the airport.

Additionally, France 24 reports that the French military has been conducting similar operations since Monday. French President Emmanuel Macron thanked French security forces on Twitter for executing a ‘sensitive operation’ which evacuated more than 200 French and Afghans.

Problem with Biden is that he is compassionate, authentic and likeable. Republicans have been thwarted trying to make him 10% as odious as his predecessor and so they blow everything they cling to out of proportion.

Yes, I thing the USA is slipping in world opinion --with extremes in both political parties. Little regard is being shown to our Creator-God and His immutable Word of Truth to us. There are always liberals and conservatives (as God has made us) --whether called by a party name, but extremes is all flesh of selfish men.

Real Christians need to forget politics and trust God for our safety and future (not taking side, which is only flesh acting); for we cannot change the workings of Satan in rebellious man. Many of us expect to be leaving this world SOON to join our Lord above; then awful judgment will begin to fall on this world as God has proclaimed --read the prophecy in our Bible about the Tribulation to come and the 'rapture' (joyous calling up) of the Church to God. I personally doubt the Church will be here more than ten more years --though no one knows the time.

Christians need to see and appreciate what God is saying --not politicians! Let us put the Lord Jesus FIRST in our thoughts, and leave the world to find their way --hoping they will hear the Gospel of Christ and yield to Him. Let us keep praying!

American citizens are being held against their will by a group that is an enemy of the US

and the commuter of the greatest fighting force on earth is begging permission for them to leave.

The UK and France rescued their citizens with a couple hundred special forces. We have five thousand combat soldiers on the ground not allowed to leave the airport.

That isn't true. Publicly, the Pentagon announced two operations wherein US forces went outside the perimeter to retrieve groups of Americans. It's highly likely, more ops have already occurred or will in the future. For ops security reasons, it's not a good idea to advertise....

I a Brit, held him in contempt last night. I hold a lot of people like Mr Trump in contempt.

This is not, or at least should not, be about politics. This is pretty significant, and awful.

Biden should have planned better, should have been more alert and aware of at least the possibility of the Taliban coming back quickly, and should have been quietly evacuating people prior to the eleventh hour.

This likely would have been a disaster no matter what, but it could have been less of a disaster had the White House been more realistic and planned ahead. Even other countries are doing a better job of evacuating their own people.

I agree, that other countries are disgusted and considering backing off from future US military partnerships under Biden shows that this is not a “Democrat problem”, this is a uniquely Biden problem.

In spite of 20 years of US support, including four with Trump, the Afghan people are taken over by militant Islam. The Taliban are to blame for the crimes occurring there.
