Has anyone here used vitamins/acupuncture/herbal remedies to assist in conceiving?

What are your thoughts on using these types of things? What has been your experience with them?

There is a company over in Australia reaching great success with a homemade herbal remedy for people struggling to conceive, and I have known a number of people who have received favourable results through the use of acupuncture (ie. Sorting out cycle for example).

Would you use an alternative therapy such as those mentioned above? Have you?

I would really like to hear from you! :)

Hmmm well if green tea counts as an herbal remedy then yes. :) It helped me have more fertile cervical fluid which is really helpful since you need to avoid lubricants when ttc. As for vitamins... I just took a One a Day. I just bought prenatals today.

I *would* try some of those others, but only if I were struggling to conceive. At first I would just "go for it" and relax. If you haven't been trying for a year then you are perfectly normal. The book Taking Charge Of Your Fertility has lots of natural ways for you to know more about your body and how to get pregnant.

I think charting cm and bb temps has been one of the most useful things I've done....

Hope that helps

Be careful of green tea, it reduces your absorbtion of folic acid which is nessessary for fetal neurological development and can increase your chances of birth defects like spinabifida. A little shouldnt hurt but alot may depending on your folic acid intake.
I take natural supliments, I take cinnamon for insulin and glucose usage by the body, i take vitex to help with regulating hormones, I take extra folic acid (studies have recently shown that lower folic acid can increase chances of miscarriage), as well as other vitamins.
I will not do acupuncture, its origination thousands of years ago was in idol worship and is still used today in idol worship and pagan practices with new age religion. But we all have different backgrounds and different things we are comfortable with, i am not comfortable with acupuncture.

Sascha - Are you asking from a *is it ok to do this to your body* or *is this ok with God* POV?

Personally - I think it's fine from both ;)

That said, get thee to a GP (then a referral to a fertility specialist) before stressing over fertility difficulties. :p

TC, I am all ready under the care of a gynecologist specialising in the areas I have problems with, so that bit's covered.

It was just an area I hadn't seen many post on in TTC, so I thought I might bring it up.

For me - I don't see a problem with using most means of alternative therapies for TTC; however I do know a few people who, when having difficulties wouldn't try much further as 'obviously it's not within God's will for me to have children'.

This isn't me though! :)

I just thought it could be a good place for people who have used 'other' types of treatment to assist in their TTC endeavours, and to see how much success each of us had.

ATM, we aren't actively TTC, but we have discussed what happens if it isn't all going 'according to plan' and neither of us have an issue with using alternative treatments to assist.

Yes I provided links about this in another thread. You drink green tea until just about ovulation, and then you stop. You can watch for the ewcm to know that ovulation is just about here.

I didn't know a sugar-craving-reducer existed!

Sasch, we didn't try anything, got pregnant a few months before we were going to TTC so I can't help much with advice, but I have to say I have no problem with it from a Christian perspective. I am sceptical though (by nature). I tend to go for regular medicine rather than alternative. But that's me, and I don't have a problem with people who feel otherwise.

Hey, I have heard that acupuncture is really great therapy. My friend has tried it while conceiving. And she was successful in getting pregnant also. She was also taking some supplements along with the therapy. Still, if you need some more information, I have found a really interesting article have a look: Is acupuncture effective?
